A rally Sunday afternoon at 72nd and Dodge Streets in Omaha to protest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activities in Minnesota attracted hundreds of people under sunny but frigid conditions.
The organizers of the event, Nebraska 50501, issued an emergency call Saturday to "show solidarity with the activists" of Minnesota "by organizing a peaceful demonstration to draw attention to how the Trump regime is using ICE to terrorize our communities."
Omaha police estimated that 400 to 500 people were in attendance. No problems were reported.
Federal agents fatally shot Minnesota native Alex Pretti, 37, Saturday morning in south Minneapolis, setting off confrontations between protesters and agents at the scene.
