One person in critical condition after being shot in incident involving Border Patrol in Arizona

A person was shot in an incident involving U.S. Border Patrol in Arizona on Tuesday, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesperson.

The individual, who has not been identified, was shot in southern Pima County near milepost 15 of West Arivaca Road at around 7:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Santa Rita Fire District. The fire department said it transported the person in critical condition.

The circumstances leading to the incident were not immediately clear. There is no information whether anyone from law enforcement was injured in the incident.

The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Crews from the Santa Rita Fire District and American Medical Response provided medical care to the individual on the scene, according to the news release.

Like I said in another couple of postss, this area of AZ is a known smuggling route and this guy is known to the CBP.

This is, so far, looking nothing like the murders in Minneapolis.

pretty rural and a route of travel for migrants and smugglers. I say normal in quotes - part of the massive militarization of the southern border region in the last 2 or 3 decades, both parties. this incident may not be related to the current extreme nazi shit we are seeing the last year or so

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Authorities said a human smuggling suspect with a criminal history was shot after firing at a Border Patrol helicopter and agents in Pima County early Tuesday, Jan. 27.

The FBI identified the suspect as Patrick Gary Schlegel, and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said he was being pursued by Border Patrol in connection with a previous incident.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the 34-year-old Schlegel, of Sahuarita, was the only person in the vehicle during the incident.

The shooting happened near Arivaca, which is about 60 miles south of Tucson, around 7 a.m.
