Judge calls Trump administration's push for states' voter information 'chilling'

A judge on Thursday released his written opinion rejecting the federal governments attempt to obtain Oregons unredacted voter rolls, calling its motives and claims troubling and chilling.
It built on U.S. District Judge Mustafa T. Kasubhais ruling from the bench last week.
The Constitution specifically left the regulation and administration of elections to the states, understanding that states are in the best position to do so. While the Constitution provides for Congress to preempt the role of the states in elections, Congress has only done so in limited ways, Kasubhai wrote in the 26-page opinion.
