Eric Swalwell calls for Dems to use 'leverage' to make Trump testify about Epstein ties

Source: msn/MEDIAite

12h

.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) told MS NOW that Democrats need to use their “leverage” to get President Donald Trump to testify about his relationship with dead sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein — and implied the president is scared of doing so, unlike ex-President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton.

Swalwell made his comments during an appearance on Alex Witt Reports on Saturday afternoon. Host Alex Witt noted the Clintons agreed to a closed door deposition with House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) related to Epstein; Witt then said Trump had a “somewhat surprising” reaction this week when he said it was a “shame” they will have to testify.

“Is it because he’s worried Democrats will then call him to testify?” Witt then asked Swalwell. “Democrats will call him to testify,” Swalwell insisted. “We will use the leverage we have right now to put pressure on Comer to have Donald Trump testify.” He continued:

Look, if you’re going to run an investigation, everyone who is a part of the most notorious child sex trafficking ring ever should have to testify — those that knew something and those that were even on the periphery. So, you know, the Clintons are willing to come in — they’re willing to do something that Donald Trump is not willing to do.

But the guy who’s mentioned in over 5,000 files, the most of anyone, should certainly be the first person on the list, not the one Republicans are trying to cover up.

6. I think he would hide behind the Fifth Amendment rather than risk being caught lying.

Or he would plead "I don't remember" because that worked well for their god ronald reagan.

he should most certainly be called to testify. Remember the Access Hollywood tape. Trump said if you were a star they would just let you do it.

The stacks of beaten and murdered children being reported are getting pretty high.

9. "we didn't force it when we had ALL the power what makes anyone think it's going to happen now."

He was criminally charged in 2 federal cases (and 2 state cases), those first 2 years "when we had ALL the power", where we then promptly lost the House in November 2022. All of this happening in the middle of a pandemic and the economic calamity caused during 45's first term.

Remember this guy who went through 15 votes to get elected Speaker in 2023?

the fact that he paid for the rioters was not revealed.

it took years to charge trump with anything. Contrast that to what's happening now.

11. Adjudicating J6 was a priority

as was dealing with what ended up being a million U.S. deaths from COVID and a cratered economy.

Seems 45's J6 erasure, something that happened 2 weeks before Biden was inaugurated, is becoming "Mission Accomplished".

He was criminally charged by 2 states and in 2 federal cases - all within 2 years. He also had multiple civil cases that continue to be under appeal (E. Jean Carroll for sexual assault and defamation and the state of NY for business fraud).

People forget the circus-like atmosphere in Manhattan when he had to show up to court.
