'John Barron' Calls In to CSPAN to Rage About Supreme Court Tariff Ruling - Gets Cut Off Soon After

Source: MEDIAite

Soon after the Supreme Court ruling striking down President Donald Trump’s tariffs was announced, CSPAN opened up its phone lines and got a call from an incensed viewer who identified himself as “John Barron.”

John Barron, of course, was the alias used by Trump to plant stories with journalists in the 1980s and ’90s. In a clip which spread widely on social media Sunday, a CSPAN caller borrowed that moniker to impersonate Trump and rage against the Court’s opinion.

“John in Virginia, Republican, let’s hear from you,” said CSPAN host Greta Brawner — bringing Barron on the air.

“This is John Barron,” the caller said. “Look, this is the worst decision you ever have in your life, practically. And Jack’s gonna agree with me, right? But this is a terrible decision. And you have Hakeem Jeffries, who — he’s a dope!

slurring and more articulate than Trump is nowadays. If I heard it 10 years ago, I would have thought it was really Trump.

Who knows, it could have even been AI.

Just sayin'.

Anyone claiming to be 'John Barron', or Trump himself, calling in should never get on the air.

Isaac Newton once said 'Never believe anything you read on the Internet'.

You can now add any audio and video you are exposed to what Isaac said.

(Might have been Abraham Lincoln, not sure.)

He calls in to FOX constantly, so it is plausible. Imposter or not, it made me laugh how quick they would cut off President Crazypants on CSPAN. A far cry from FOX and Friends pandering to his every word.

@cspan

The call originated from a central Virginia phone number and occurred during a time when Trump was in a publicly documented White House meeting with governors, making it impossible for him to have placed the call.

It's widely regarded as an impersonator or someone mimicking his style, which sparked viral speculation online but has been debunked by the network itself.

Still not sure one way or the other. He could have gotten someone to make the call sound altered. But would he go to all that trouble?

Then again, it’s the same name he used years ago trying to drum up his celebrity status.

If it was him, just shows he is getting desperate.

First things first: C-Span posted this Link to tweet
" target="_blank">message: "Because so many of you are talking about Friday’s C-SPAN caller who identified himself as “John Barron,” we want to put this to rest: it was not the president. The call came from a central Virginia phone number and came while the president was in a widely covered, in-person White-House meeting with the governors. Tune into C-SPAN for the actual president at the State of the Union Address on Tuesday night."

But beyond that I'm always proud to see this community debating what is and isn't real with the goal of getting at ground truth of a situation. I don't see that kind of commitment to reality when I hold my nose and visit MAGA sites -- in fact, quite the opposite. For the most part the members of this site value accuracy over protecting their feelings, and that is a commendable trait. There are members who regularly set a high bar, asking for citations and checking for corroboration of a story. It's good to see.

But perhaps you are asking "Cmmngrnd, why are you visiting MAGA sites?" Good question, whether you asked it or not. I don't go often. When I do it's primarily to see how they are reacting to one of those Trump outrages that make us say "Surely they'll break with him now." Of course they don't and they have the flimsiest defense mechanisms to protect their world view. Then sometimes I go to see how they are reacting to less outrageous news, and lastly I'll go from every now and then to get an alternative point of view to see if it makes sense. Spoiler alert - it never does.

But my visits to MAGA sites make me appreciate this community, with its commitment to accuracy, all the more.

are now attacking CSPAN for being in on the conspiracy to . . . Not sure what the conspiracy is. To get trump off the hook for actually being the caller? Gotta laugh. And the impersonator was funny, while trump has no actual human sense of humor at all, only meanness, hatred & cruelty in the guise of humor.
