Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) slammed Israel allegedly leading the recent U.S. operation in Iran, calling it an absolute abdication of leadership.
We lost six men and women so far, and Im not sure there was, what kind of preplanning and planning was actually created in enough time to actually be able to even execute this correctly. Like, right now Im hearing that our stockpiles are running low, and it takes forever for us to redo and rearm ourselves, all because Israel wanted to take a chance at the fact that, you know, Iran was weak, and we just had to follow them through, Gallego, a Marine veteran who served in Iraq, said on a Tuesday episode of Pod Save America.
If this is actually what happened, this is what Marco Rubio just said to everybody, that is an absolute abdication of leadership by [President] Trump, and by everybody in his Cabinet, the fact that we were basically pushed into the war by Israel, Gallego, whose name has been floated as a potential 2028 presidential candidate, added.
On Monday, top Democratic and Republican lawmakers said that the Trump administrations decision to launch bombing and missile strikes in Iran last weekend was mostly reliant on an Israeli plan to attack Iran with or without U.S. support.

Trump contradicted his secretary of State and national security adviser, former GOP Sen. Marco Rubio, by contending he likely forced Israel into launching the conflict.
No, I might have forced their hand. You see, we were having negotiations with these lunatics, and it was my opinion that they were going to attack first. They were going to attack, Trump told reporters. I felt strongly about that.

Rubio was seated on a sofa a few feet from Trump on Tuesday. He did not attempt to clarify his remarks on how the war started.

Gallego's staff needs to do a better job of keeping track of the administration's ever-shifting narrative and informing the Senator of changes in Trump's cover story.

It makes Trump look very bad and that's good.
