Exclusive: Iran is 'confident' it can counter a potential U.S. ground invasion, foreign minister says

Source: NBC News

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Thursday that Iran is ready for a U.S. ground invasion of the country as the war between Iran, the U.S. and Israel has quickly spread across the region. He also refused any negotiations with the U.S. and said that Iran had not asked for a ceasefire.

Araghchi spoke with “NBC Nightly News" anchor Tom Llamas in a video interview from Tehran as U.S. and Israeli bombs continue to hammer the country.

His comments came after the U.S. and Israeli military began a sweeping attack on Iran Saturday, which decimated the country’s military defenses and killed the country’s top authority, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Asked if he was afraid of a possible U.S. ground invasion, Araghchi struck a defiant tone.

Because nothing will make IQ47 itch to launch a ground invasion harder than his enemies telling him he won't win if he tries.

At the same time, I sorta respect the fact he ain't kowtowing and sucking up like every single GQP-er this side of the international date line, so there's that.

He's also wise to realize that the US public isn't going to like it if Trump does indeed put boots on the ground. Iraq was one thing, there was a pretext around 9/11 and the public was really pissed at the region in general. This war OTOH has no equivalent precedent, and there won't be lines at the military recruiting stations for it.

Come to think of it, many of the people that might've done so are now working for ICE, which is a much more comfortable and lucrative job, where you sleep in your own bed every night and don't get shot at.

There's plenty of religious zealots in Iran that already hate the U.S. with a vengeance. They will fight infidels in their country to their dying breath, and welcome it.
