March 5 (Reuters) - U.S. military investigators believe it is likely that U.S. forces were responsible for an apparent strike on an Iranian girls school that killed scores of children on Saturday but have not yet reached a final conclusion or completed their investigation, two U.S. officials told Reuters.
Reuters was unable to determine more details about the investigation, including what evidence contributed to the tentative assessment, what type of munition was used, who was responsible or why the U.S. might have struck the school.
In a separate analysis, The New York Times found the strike was likely part of a U.S. attack on an Iranian naval base located nearby the school.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Wednesday acknowledged the U.S. military was investigating the incident.

(424 posts)I read elsewhere that the school used to be part of the navy base that was struck. There was speculation that DoD was using an outdated map of the complex and thought they were striking a military target. Watch for them to deny intentionally hitting it, saying it was an errant weapon accidentally hitting the school. We know that would be a lie because it was a "double tap" strike. We hit the target and then a short time later, just as first responders would be arriving, we hit it again.

(29,348 posts)Hegseth and trump both should be dragged off to the Hague. At least indict them so they can never travel outside the U.S. again. That would make the rest of the world very happy.
