Kristi Noem's ouster isn't enough. Democrats say they want her to pay.

WASHINGTON — Kristi Noem may be out as head of the Department of Homeland Security, but Democrats are still demanding a “reckoning.” Democrats met news of Noem’s ouster Thursday with a cascade of calls for accountability. They ranged from a potential probe into the legality of contracts cut during her tenure to a perjury investigation after her congressional testimony to even a push for impeachment to keep her from holding public office in the future.

Democrats vowed to probe Noem’s time as homeland security secretary if they took back power in the November midterm elections, while at least two congressional candidates called for a future criminal prosecution.

“We need a reckoning with the fact that there were murders that took place under her watch. There was mass violence and violation of people’s civil rights and civil liberties. There’s been intense corruption, and there’s been rampant lying in the courts and disobeying of court orders,” Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., who will be chairman of the powerful Judiciary Committee if Democrats win this fall, said in an interview Thursday. His panel has oversight of federal immigration enforcement.

“We need to have a cleaning of house at the Department of Homeland Security,” he added, “and a repudiation of all of these terrible policies of corruption, cover-up, lying and authoritarian violence against citizens and immigrants.”

Murder and assault, among others, are state matters, not federal. There are limits to qualified immunity as well.

and she will lawyer up once the subpoenas start flying.

ICE needs to be disbanded. Yes, control the border. But you don't do that by building concentration camps all over the country and shooting soccer moms and nurses who protest.

Congress should be held responsible for this mess also. They could impeach this president, and they have collectively been too weak to do it. I'm thinking primarily of the republicans in the Senate of course. They could hold a trial in the Senate and they could remove him from office.

Claw back the illegal contracts Noem and her "special employee" illegally ordered.

Claw back Trump's illegal tariffs, and make the retailers reimburse in any case where they passed along the tariffs.

Claw back all the money Trump has extorted from people through his various grifts, inaugural committee, ballroom project. etc.

Claw back any contracts Musk awarded himself under DOGE.

Claw back the tax bonanza given to the billionaires.

Claw back the cuts Republicans made to ACA premiums.

And so on. See how it works. That one word, CLAWBACK, has enormous power BECAUSE it implies improper or illegally gotten gains, which is exactly the case.

Clawback is a very action-oriented word. It will resonate with the public at large.

Claw back the ill-gotten gains from stock market manipulations and price gouging.

Claw back the money the has been extracted from the people with illegal monopolies and price-gouging.

Etc.

We need accountability. So many Democrats are pushing for it that it’s now being described as “a cascade of calls for accountability.” Many voices now want a probe into the legality of contracts cut during Noem’s tenure to a perjury investigation after her congressional testimony to even a push for impeachment to keep her from holding public office.

And I DO like the whole idea of CLAWBACK. We sure can use as much of it as possible, and RIGHT NOW!!!
