GOP Loses Carroll County Seat in Special Election Upset

Source: New Hampshire Journal

In what Granite State Republicans hope is not a preview of November, Democrat Bobbi Boudman won Tuesday’s special election for Carroll County District 7, defeating Republican Dale Fincher 51 percent to 47 percent in a district that voted Republican by more than 13 points just 16 months ago.

Boudman received 2,207 votes to Fincher’s 2,043 out of 4,331 ballots cast across Ossipee, Tuftonboro, and Wolfeboro.

The result immediately drew national-style spin from Democrats.

“Bad day for the NHGOP,” posted state Democratic Party communications staffer Marissa Hebert. “Boudman lost her race in 2024 in this same district by 13.6 points. Tonight she won by 2.4 points. A 16-point swing from 2024.”

We not only have to win in November, we have to win by colossal margins. The GOPhers are going to claim we cheated; yeah we cheated by comparing repuglykan records/ideas to ours. That's just not remotely fair!

about ~13% in 2024, are volnerable for 2026.
Swings between 13% - 17% in (D)'s direction in just about every election.

That's why MTG's seat is a safe seat. She won by 28.8% in 2024

14. Honestly, unless it's actually Republican voters and not the fickle independent ones I'm kinda not impressed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad a Democrat has won but we need to break away voters permanently rather than hoping they will vote for whatever Democrat is running at every election as the independents aren't reliable.

I'm in Pennsylvania and we're always being told we're a swing state. Here's the reason why: our registered voters are nearly 50% D and 50% R, but the greatest number of voters aren't registered in either party. When they show up, they can be motivated to vote D (or not) but they can also stay home and let us know they just don't care enough.

I believe in 2026 every voter is paying attention. They are going to show up and they are going to let us know that this BULLSHIT HAS TO END! It's up to us Democrats to get these independent unaffiliated voters motivated - because the Repukes hope it's not going to happen. We can't let voter apathy ever elect another Repuke.

It's up to all of us, and this is the year!
