Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) on Sunday discussed a recent strike on an Iranian girls school, saying he desires a thorough investigation into the matter.
Weve only got preliminary assessments, and I want a thorough investigation. But what I dont want to do is jump to the conclusion, whether it was [U.S. Central Command (Centcom)] or whether it was Defense Intelligence Agency. Lets thats what thorough investigations are supposed to be for. Clearly, it was an American strike. I, again, feel a little disappointed that the president tried to deny that at first or say it was even the Iranians, Warner told CBS Newss Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation.
According to preliminary findings from an ongoing military investigation, the U.S. was behind a deadly Tomahawk missile strike on an all-girls Iranian elementary school. The late February strike on the Shajarah Tayyebeh elementary school building, which killed more than 170 people, was caused by a U.S. military targeting error, per The New York Times.
This is where what weve got. The words of the president of the United States are terribly important in moments like this, he added. And, unfortunately, President Trump has, uses loose language all the time, didnt ever come to the American people on this war of choice and say what our goals are, and we still dont know other than the four goals he outlined.
