Florida leads the nation in lightning fatalities, averaging roughly 7 to 10 deaths per year. Since 2006, there have been over 90 fatal strikes in the state. These deaths are most common during summer months (June–August) and often occur during outdoor activities like fishing, boating, and beach visits
