Amid partial government shutdown, Sen. Tommy Tuberville says TSA should be privatized

During his weekly call with reporters, Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., said he’s all for privatizing TSA.

Last year, Tuberville and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, introduced “The Abolish TSA Act of 2025,” which dissolves the TSA within three years and privatizes airport screening.

Tuberville said the TSA is “over bloated and inefficient”. While he’s thankful TSA workers are showing up without getting paid, Tuberville said it’s time for major change to airport security.

“There are several airports like Kansas City and San Francisco that don’t have long lines. I wonder why? Because they aren’t run by the federal government. They are privatized. And that’s what we should do to every airport,” said Tuberville. “Let the airports supply the security. The federal government can’t do anything right.”

Repeal the DHS bill passed in 2002. It was a shitty bill. Democrats got bullied into voting for it in the post 9/11 frenzy.

I didn't expect this from Tuberville. He's dumb as a pocket full of lint, but I don't think he's the most criminally greedy MAGAt of the bunch. He could be running interference for tRump or another super-greed-head, though.

The MAGAtocracy wants it all, and they want it NOW!

I say we should privatize the White House. Start by evicting Chump and all of his employees ... and Chump family of course. The White House as well as all of the federal government buildings are owned by the U.S. TAXPAYERS. It belongs to us.

Let's evict all of them.

Privatize it so it can become a wing of a political party and do the bidding of a tyrant (Not unlike the “Legacy Media). Once again, where are the “Originalists” on this?
I’m guessing “The Fathers" discussed this long enough to find it’s a shitty idea. They were ALL businessmen, but leavened their plan with the experience gained from living under a Despot.
Re-invent the wheel… and make it square because of the amazing stability.
These Republicans should emigrate to Russia, where this shit is actually already happening.

Airport security was privatized nationwide prior to 9/11 -- and, sadly, failed, resulting in thousands of deaths on 9/11.

Senator Tuberville ought to do some homework before opening his mouth. I flew through various airports weekly (Dayton, Detroit, Minneapolis, Boston and Providence) and the security screening was a joke. Boston was the worst in early 2001--I could have dragged a bazooka in my left hand and the contract security would have missed it.
