Trump threatens CNN over its Iran coverage moments after announcing ceasefire plan

President Donald Trump fired off a seething threat against CNN Tuesday night in response to its reporting Iran had claimed a "great victory" over the U.S. following the president's announcement to delay his ceasefire deadline by two weeks.
Trump had originally given Iran until 8 p.m. ET Tuesday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, warning a refusal would mean a "whole civilization will die."
Around 90 minutes before that deadline, Trump and the White House released statements saying the U.S. and Iran had agreed to negotiate an end to hostilities that would include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the suspension of fighting for two weeks. Following the announcement, CNN published a post to its online live blog detailing the Iranian response.
"Iran says it has achieved a great victory and forced the United States to accept its 10-point plan, according to a statement from Iran's Supreme National Security Council report by Iranian state media," the post read. Trump then lashed out on Truth Social, threatening to investigate CNN for committing "a crime" and accusing the outlet of knowingly publishing incorrect statements.

Why the histrionic whining? It'll soon be chewed up, digested, and shat out of the Ellison family assholes. It's only a matter of time.

(4,338 posts)... pitiful, playground bully. To commemorate his passing, the Pantone Matching System, or PMS, should issue a sickening shade of orange, and call it "Terminal Trumpitis", and it number should be 666. The pale violet that currently has that designation could be retired, or renamed "Trump's Bruise".

(3,731 posts)"Iran says it has achieved a great victory and forced the United States to accept its 10-point plan, according to a statement from Iran's Supreme National Security Council report by Iranian state media,"
Did that actually happen, or is it made up by someone somewhere and wrongly published as fact?
I see a lot of posts rightly bashing IQ47 for trying to declare this reportage as "illegal", but what I'm not seeing is anyone addressing whether he's right in his claim that there was no such statement and/or whether it was reported on by Iranian state media.
What's the situation on the report's veracity, does anyone actually know?

(170,095 posts)In that post, CNN updated with a link to their post quoting the statements noted in an earlier post - https://www.cnn.com/2026/04/07/world/live-news/iran-war-trump-us-israel#cmnpe5czs00023b6pcs0tt456
The narrative was that their Supreme National Security Council issued the statements in English and Farsi, regarding the agreement.
Their Foreign Minister - Seyed Abbas Araghchi - actually had a Xitter post with the statement that CNN refers to in their "Live Updates". I did find it here -

The IranU.S. Ceasefire terms are clear and explicit: the U.S. must chooseceasefire or continued war via Israel. It cannot have both.
The world sees the massacres in Lebanon. The ball is in the U.S. court, and the world is watching whether it will act on its commitments.

These are the English versions but I haven't gone searching for the Farsi ones.
