Manchin, McCain To Introduce Bill To Create Mass Violence Commission

Source: TPM

PEMA LEVY 11:29 AM EST, SUNDAY JANUARY 13, 2013

Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and John McCain (R-AZ) are teaming up to introduce a bill to create a commission on mass violence, Manchin announced on ABC's "This Week" Sunday.

"I have linked up with and I will be with John McCain introducing a bill that Joe Lieberman, our dear friend, has been championing for a long time, which basically puts a commission about mass violence together," Manchin said.

"You bring experts from all different fields. You bring people such as myself that are NRA members that have been sportsmen all of our lives, and look for a commonsense approach to how we change the culture of violence in America. And that's what needs to be done."

Now he wants a commission for this.

The problem is not being caused by experts, it is being caused by people who have mindsets that are the opposite of that of experts. Experts cannot understand that mindset.

The easiest way to make it look like you are doing something, while actually doing nothing.

Months of stupid hearings and speculation, culminating in a hundreds of pages long report with lots of cool charts and graphs and policy recommendations that can never pass Congress, a day or two of media coverage; then the report ends up in John Boehner's recycle bin.

Cue up the bipartisan commission regulars! James Baker! Vernon Jordan! Erskine Bowles! Sam Nunn! Lanny Davis! We have work for you!

This 100% smoke screen to do anything but talk about "the guns"
the known fact that with the more guns we have and the more high
capacity magazines we have the more gun deaths we have had and
are going to have.

I'm guessing the commission will come up with all sorts of reasons why additional gun control is not necessary.
