Trump appointees push $250 banknote with his portrait
Source: WaPo
Trump administration officials have pressed the office responsible for printing the nations money to design a $250 bill featuring the presidents portrait, according to four current and former employees, in what would be the first appearance of a living person on U.S. currency in more than 150 years.
Starting last year, two political appointees at the Treasury Department U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach and his senior adviser, Mike Brown repeatedly urged staff at the agencys Bureau of Engraving and Printing to prepare prototypes of the note, according to the employees, who said the move raised concerns because federal law currently allows only deceased people to appear on bills.
The employees spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution.
As part of the effort, Beach in August and September provided bureau staff with mock-up designs for the note, including one that shows President Donald Trumps face in the center of the $250 bill between the signatures of the president and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, according to one of the employees and records reviewed by The Washington Post.

(3,591 posts)Just. No. Not legal: No living person is allowed on US currency. By federal law (enacted in 1866), a living person's portrait cannot appear on U.S. paper money or circulating coins.
Never mind that Caligulas face should only appear on sheets of toilet paper.
And theres a reason we dont have any denominations larger than $100: Counterfeiters. Ive heard the Treasury has discussed ditching the $100 for that same reason.

(10,933 posts)This is an obvious ploy to put out a $250 bill for the U.S. 250th Year celebration.
His ego has no boundary.

(550 posts)It takes years to create the plates and would be cost prohibitive. In fact, I bet it would cost at least $300 to make each bill. It is a fools game to think they are collectible as you are losing interest every day you have them under your MAGA mattress. This is just another diversion from the Epstein issue.
