Hundreds of concessions workers at Target Field are expected to walk off the job Monday as the Minnesota Twins host one of their highest-profile home series of the season against the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
Roughly 500 workers, employed by Delaware North, serve food and drinks throughout the ballpark. UNITE HERE Local 17 represents those workers and announced the strike after contract negotiations stalled.
Union members are fighting for better wages, affordable health care and stronger job protections. The union says many concessions workers earn minimum wage and do not receive employer-provided health care.
On May 1, workers voted 81 percent in favor of authorizing a strike if bargaining failed to produce a new contract.
