Stephen Miller Declares Trump Admin Pushing to De-Bank Illegal Immigrants

White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller said President Donald Trumps administration will be pushing to de-bank illegal immigrants a move he said will be a major driver of self-deportation. Miller talked about the plan during a Friday radio interview on Clay Travis and Buck Sextons show.
Contrary to popular perception, you know this stupid phrase that illegal aliens live in the shadows illegal aliens dont live in the shadows, Miller said. Illegal aliens have credit cards, they have bank accounts, and theyre paid with direct deposits. So illegal aliens fully participate in the commercial system, the financial systems of America.
The longtime Trump adviser pointed to a May executive order that called for banks to cancel accounts for illegal immigrants. The executive order said banking and lending to illegal immigrants undermines the safety and soundness of the national banking system.
Miller said the administration has begun in earnest its push to enforce the order, and would soon be meeting with individual banks to demand illegal immigrants are booted. Shutting that down is a massive engine for deportation, Miller said, before adding a moment later, Once illegal aliens lose their access to capital, that is going to again, be a major driver of self-deportation.

(3,733 posts)Millions of immigrants are pursuing their asylum claims, waiting for court dates, attending hearings.
Its perfectly appropriate for them to have bank accounts while going through the needlessly lengthy process.
Undocumented immigrants with bank accounts neither undermine nor jeopardize the soundness of the banking system thats a ridiculous lie.
The Trump regimes immigration policy is motivated by racism, bigotry, and hate.

(8,351 posts)it was exactly like that. I'm old enough to remember... and still have some of my marbles rolling around where they should be. But it's not only women... it's ANYONE they don't like. Remember, trump wants "leftists" to be defined as domestic terrorists. To him, anyone with a "D" in their voting record would therefore be a domestic terrorist and could be debanked, using his logic. It's only a matter of time before we start getting to the end of that old poem... First they came for....

(30,964 posts)When I would drive down out of the mountains to Fresno, there was one decrepit looking store beside the road across from the orchards. On a Fri, there would be migrant workers lined up around it to get money orders to send their paychecks home to their families. Didn't need a bank.

(10,770 posts)claim they all get paid under the table--bullshit. NO employer would risk their biz by not holding out all taxes and paying them in.
It they didn't hold and pay those payroll taxes and got caught years later they could owe tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands to the Fed and State government in withholding along with massive interest and penalties.

(4,222 posts)i know there are some banks that have state charters instead of federal ones. i wonder if a state charterd one could just ignore any so called mandates from miller.

(4,222 posts)there are some state chartered credit unions that that have also opted out of NCUA (basically FDIC insurance for credit unions) they use private insurance instead. my hunch is millers plan wouldnt apply to them in the least. and I know at least one of them is in california so im sure the state would have no problem with them having accounts for undocumented immigrants if they are able to

Does Miller also plan on stealing their homes, their artwork, and their businesses?

How do you even buy a plane ticket to "self deport" when your bank accounts are frozen?
Banks will be made out to be the bad guys here. They really don't want this.

(1,772 posts)Another thing for the Millers and the Miller-wannabes...the shit they are throwing out there flows both ways.
They want us all to go running into corners and under beds in fear, hoping it will all go away. If we fall for that, it will never go away.
If we do not stand up for this now, we will wind up in yokes for life.
