BREAKING: Accused Cop Killer, Chris Dorner, Found Dead in Burned Cabin
BIG BEAR An LAPD official has confirmed to KTLA that a body found inside a burned out cabin in Big Bear is believed to be that of accused cop-killer Christopher Dorner.
Authorities are in the process of removing his body from the cabin.
The fugitive former officer had been holed up in the cabin for several hours on Tuesday afternoon.
At one point, police broke windows, pumped in tear gas and blasted a loud speaker urging Dorner to surrender.

The six-day manhunt for accused killer Christopher Dorner took a dramatic turn Tuesday when the suspect got into a shootout with authorities, according to law enforcement sources.
Details were sketchy. But the sources said that Dorner burglarized a home in the Big Bear area, tied up a couple and stole their car.
During the gun battle, two police officers were wounded. Their conditions were unknown. A state Fish and Game official was also shot at, sources said.
Four local schools are on lockdown.

(7,349 posts)reported another cop's kicking a suspect in the face, and for his honesty he was kicked off the force and accused of lying about the cop.
I'm not taking his side, but that was the reason stated in his manifesto - this is where it stems from.

I think if he was in actual custody, that would be quickly confirmed.

(26,276 posts)The mayor of Big Bear was saying there are likely no buildings where he is. But, I'm hearing and reading that same report about the hostages.
A former FBI assistant director just defined 'pinned down'. He said no matter where Dorner is, pinned down means he's no longer running and he's contained.

(1,869 posts)Not much rational thought or actions are expected from Dorner, as he is a fugitive.
Now can we say the same about the LAPD? Targeting a 5'2 woman as resembling Dorner?
Common Sense Party
(14,139 posts)And it's Dorner.
blueclown
(1,869 posts)I would expect a lack of judgment from a fugitive. I do not expect a police organization such as the LAPD to pretend they are playing Call of Duty and take shots at a 5'2 woman that somehow resembles Dorner.

(18,124 posts)dorner such an evil, evil man. That idiot walking around with a weapon strapped to his idiot body in the JCP store in a crowded mall with a magazine with live rounds in it is more dangerous in my book. I'm sorry Dorner really didn't have a chance to give his side. But I knew he would NOT be taken alive. He was, even in custody, much more dangerous to that beck and other corrupt LAPD officials. They wanted him dead. So all you afraid of the crazy black man with a brain and a gun, I have seen what all of you really are about and it is sad. Dorner, RIP.

(53,661 posts)However, after today's event, the term 'alleged' doesn't seem as plausible as it did a few days ago. Many in the public and at DU believe he is a hero and an oppressed whistleblower.
I read the manifesto posted here and it doesn't encourge me regarding his status as a whistleblower or champion of the downtrodden. He said he would kill civilians to clear his name. But some folks may claim that's not from him, nothing will change their minds.
I'd really like this to end without any more bloodshed, not civilians, officers or even Dorner. Terrible tragedy for all.

(17,621 posts)This was why LE didn't want live pictures at this time.
Common Sense Party
(14,139 posts)Yeah, they were showing an aerial helicopter shot of the cabin, then they pulled away and said law enforcement asked them to pull out so that they wouldn't provide info to Dorner.
So the only thing they have to show is the roadblock on the highway. As soon as they switch to the road, the RV drives by with the armored mini-CAT.
