Marco Rubio Has Sold More Than 3100 Water Bottles, Raising $100,000
Source: BuzzFeed
When Marco Rubio paused to take a sip from a water bottle during his response to the State of the Union this week, it become an instant viral sensation. The Florida Senator has now capitalized on the moment to raise more than $100,000 for his Reclaim America political action committee by selling branded water bottles.
A source close to Rubio tells BuzzFeed that the water bottles, which were sold on the senator's PAC website to anyone who makes a donation of $25 or more, sold like hotcakes. In the period since they went on sale Wednesday, more than 3,100 of the PAC's "Marco Rubio Water Bottles" have been sold.
"Send the liberal detractors a message that not only does Marco Rubio inspire you
he hydrates you too," the donation page reads.
Rubio has made light on the incident in interviews following his speech Tuesday saying during an appearance on Good Morning America that "God has a funny way of reminding us that we're human."

(3,073 posts)Look- a lot of folks are counting on this guy to be the savior of the party and they really want and need him to be a success. And many of them as we know, are loaded. Yes- great move for the Rubio team-- they know they have a huge opportunity here and are not taking it for granted. Too bad he's such a putz and a phony. Would be great if he could actually really be a new voice for the GOP- young, smart and sane But he's not. And the coveted Hispanic American community they are trying so desperately to court with this guy, knows better. Except perhaps for those wacko Cubans here in Miami - but they are quickly becoming the minority.

In four years he may have a good chance to be the Republican choice to run for the Presidency.

(20,776 posts)I doubt he came up with the idea himself. He probably had the help of a corporate sponsor or someone in the Public Relations business who suggested this. The Republicans know about money, and investment. Its how they get rich even if it means off the backs of workers in Cambodia or some other obscure place. Betting that those plastic bottles came from outside the USA.

(129,053 posts)The excuse was that he had previously recorded the same version in Spanish, for a total time for both versions of ~30 minutes. Yet just prior, the President of the United States had completed what was 9 seconds short of a 1 hour speech without the silly dramatics.
Whatever "people" he has are not "good" if they support a pathological liar who spews RW talking-points about the fictional person that he saw in Clint Eastwood's chair (that now sits in Reince Preibus' office). As long as they embrace the internalized demons of themselves in their bubble world, they will continue to fail.

(13,297 posts)Guess that proves Rubio not only didn't hit his intended target, he can't even muster enough interest to be a national figure when being artfully nudged into the spotlight by his own party.
If you'll remember, that idiot Joe Wilson (not at all a national figure) raised over a million on his 'you lie' remark. Here we have Rubio, a potential Presidential candidate, unable to even break out of the lowest percent of that while being given a national platform to do it and a full televised, all-network uninterrupted exposure.
Me thinks Rubio is a bottle of watered-down weak sauce .

(22,651 posts)Rubio just sucked as a VP choice when Romney paired up with him for those couple months, now he sucked again hard with the republican response SOTU live speech.
The only 'cute kid like thing' is the water bottle, I think republicans scripted that weird drink, because anyone setting up that live speech would have had water in a glass ready to drink, if needed.

Funny that I heard more talk about "waterbottlegate" on the hate radio station than I did on PBS or on Maddow. It's as if the pubs tried to create outrage by talking incessantly about a few comments that some dems made and the dems quickly moved on. Sort of like repeating "They're beating up on our buddy!" as something to rally around. I believe "butthurt" is the way the kids would describe their response.
