Michigan Republican: Strange no one is looking into Obamas birthplace
By Eric W. Dolan
Tuesday, February 26, 2013 19:06 EST
Michigan state Sen. Tom Casperson, a Republican, said Tuesday he wasnt sure whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States.
I dont know because it seems like that issue was dropped immediately as far as the major media went, he said on Michael Patrick Shiels radio show. My gut tells me if it had been a different president, like say George W. Bush, theyd have been digging into like there was no tomorrow and trying to get to the bottom of, which they never really tried to get to the bottom of, so it became a conspiracy theory and no big deal.
I think it is strange, again, that it is not being looked at by certain groups that normally would, Casperson added. I think what the media did to George W. Bush was OK. They kept his feet to the fire, but I think they equally should be doing the same thing to this president.
His comments were captured by the group Progress Michigan.

(6,008 posts)I am embarassed that this shit-for-brains has managed to get himself elected to public service in this country, both for what it says about him, and about the people who voted for him. I'm saddened to share a country with them, and wish that in a moment of self clarity, they would recognize their own stupidity, and spend the rest of their lives in silent, mortified embarassment.

Often this site is where you get to see and read a cross section from people. I try hard not to be sent to the jury. I have been a couple of times but am trying hard not to. Thanks again.

(45,274 posts)Go to "My Account" on the very top line, right hand side of the DU home page & there should be a way to do that.
And please don't let the negativism of a few members of that DU cross-section get to you.
I very much honor your frankness and courage in revealing your feelings of vulnerability. We all have vulnerabilities, but most try to hide and deny their own, and are maybe therefore less sensitive to the pain they are inflicting.
The world is a much better place when people try not to hurt each other, but sometimes we don't know when we are doing so. Maybe when you let others know they have done so, they will be less likely to do the same thing to others. Therefore your acknowledging a hurt is a valuable public service.
southernyankeebelle
(11,304 posts)people have a right to express their opinion even if I may not agree with them. The one time I could remember hiding something is when a person used the word "c*nt. I think that is the most vuglar word in the english language. I'm no saint and I'm known to throw a cuss word out every now and then but that word is the worst. I try real hard not to cuss. But when you have worked around military guys you kind of get use to it and you don't think about it. But not that word.
Thank you for understanding feelings. I think if people stop and think before they make a comment it would make things easier. I have always been an upfront when it comes to opinions. But I do respect others opinions even if we may not agree. I just think I don't want to hurt a person's feelings. But you know how it is. Sometimes you are in no mood. Then after I respond I feel bad because I let my emotions get carried away from me.
You work or are you retired?

She was out of work for a while and her friends who were dentists help fill in for her. It is such a responsibility for people like you who are independent. Now I'll leave you to finish your work. Stop procrastinating and get it done. LOL.

(23,148 posts)to discredit Dan Rather. Investigations into w's background in TX ended with a brand-spanking-new driver's license number that somehow evaporated his previous record. Investigations into everything regarding w always ended in a suspicious dead end and missing information. Investigations into Obama's birth revealed microfiche of newspaper reports of his birth and two different versions of a live birth certificate including a long form on file in Hawaii, verified by the proper authorities.
That's the difference. w's history is checkered... Obama's is nearly impeccable, except for smoking a little pot as a student, which he happily admitted.

(1,922 posts)I was on leave and hanging out with some friends at a high-end apartment complex on Westheimer, in Houston.
Westheimer and Voss.
There were these sickeningly frat-types who were trolling for "hippie chicks", saying that UN Ambassador's son was hanging, telling those girls that they had more reefer, coke and acid than they could handle.
I was hanging out with this beautiful Mexican woman named Gloria. She went over to those idiots and said that she would check it out.
She told me that W was ensconced in an apartment, hanging out in some harem tent like Ahab the Arab. She said it was probably the most ridiculous thing she had ever seen. And, this woman had been around the block a few dozen times.
W was a fucking really bad joke.
And, unfortunately, the joke was on us.

(1,446 posts)What we are watching, these days, IS embarrassing, because it is POLITICS...not GOVERNANCE.
And I am convinced that the only thing that the republicans have left - and they know this - is political theater. At some point, people are going to wake the fuck up, I hope, and say, 'enough of the song and dance, what are you going to do to help AMERICA move toward income equality and fiscal solvency based on logical and conscientious choices?' At least, I hope that enough people out there are still not too far out of touch, or too anesthetized, to ask that question.

(13,485 posts)I have a hard time believing they really are so stupid. I am beginning to think it' s just all part of the trite Republican diversion: waste time, use the ignorant, muddy the real issues, water down reality, overload the public mind with the trivial, and confuse. They really do not want anyone to be able to do anything. That's the goal. If they pull it off, what they end up with is a public that really doesn't have any use for government therefore accomplishing their ultimate goal of destroying federal government powers and funneling it to the states and corporations. They win though deception and political usury.
