Eleven people shot on D.C. street corner overnight
Source: Washington Post
A drive-by shooting early Monday on a D.C. street corner that has frequently been touched by violence left 11 people wounded, one of them seriously, police said.
Gunmen in two cars opened fire about 2:45 a.m. on a crowd of people outside Tyler House, an eight-story, subsidized residential building on the south side of New York Avenue at North Capitol Street.
The wounded the youngest of whom was 17 were struck mostly in the arms and legs, D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier said. Assistant Police Chief Peter Newsham said the seriously injured victim was wounded in the back. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
Lanier said detectives believe that one of the vehicles involved in the shooting may have been a dark-colored BMW, and the other a may have been a light gray or silver sedan.

(31,493 posts)How do you stop criminals from getting guns? Bans guns? Search every square foot of the US for guns? Go against free market capitalism and seize the US gun manufactures companies? Make more laws? (which are only for the little people) Make criminals obey the law? Anyone got a reasonable answer or solution? I don't see a solution other than doing what Australia or the UK has done. The strong arm criminals will rule the streets? My solution for that is ...get a doberman.

(12,008 posts)of the second amendment. First and foremost would be the lifting of laws put in place for the soul purpose of shielding the manufacturers and sellers of killing devices from civil and criminal prosecution when their products are used as designed. Second would be a very clear trail of registration from manufacture to use for both guns and ammunition. If everyone who is actually responsible for gun violence were held accountable for that gun violence, I think it would drop drastically.
Of course this is just a supposition on my part, because it's never been tried, but it wouldn't hurt to try, would it?
