Massachusetts Sheriff Jokes That President Obama Should Be Shot
Source: Think Progress
At a Massachusetts Republican Party St. Patricks Day breakfast Sunday, Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph D. McDonald, Jr. (R) joked that the nation would be better off if President Obama were assassinated.
Blue Mass Group reports that the Boston Globe noted the stunning comment Sunday:
McDonald offered a joke about Barack Obama being visited in a dream by three past presidents, who offered advice on how to improve the country. Lincolns advice: Go to the theater.

And the Boston Globe SCRUBBED the shooting Obama joke from the article!

(3,894 posts)being the sheriff and all, he should be more politic. HOWEVER, I remember being reminded that if GWB was shot then Chaney would be pres often enough, that I have no doubt I must've said, "GWB should be shot" numerous times.

(3,894 posts)Just being honest here. If it's okay for me to mouth off... I'm not a public official at a public event, granted, but it is a sort of semi-normal, not at all serious comment that our culture uses against our enemies often in our small lives, not public ones, I cede that part.

And OF COURSE since this was a Republican event they are all shocked to discover when what goes on in there becomes public. They consider themselves the "members only" party.

(50,562 posts)The Catholic says, "I heard President Bush is giving a speech here this week. I wonder if he'll be using an interpreter."
The Baptist says, "Yeah, to translate it into English."
They have a few more drinks and the Baptist says, "I wonder if they'll show it on a wide screen television. They call him the 'Big Picture President' you know."
The Catholic answers, "I doubt it. His 'big picture' could fit on the head of a pin."
After few more drinks, the Baptist comments, "Maybe someone should shove that pin up his ass."
The Catholic responds, "He'd squeal louder if they shoved a jalapeno pepper up his ass."
The Baptist says, "Yeah, a jalapeno. Talk about a Burning Bush!"
With that, an FBI agent arrests the Catholic and the Baptist for threatening bodily harm to the Sole Commander in Chief of the United States, and takes them both into custody.
The bartender looks at the Muslim and says, "Wow! Can you believe that?"
The Muslim replies, "That's nothing. John Poindexter was convicted of lying to Congress, obstruction of justice, and destroying Federal evidence about the criminal conspiracy to sell arms to Iran, and Bush just appointed him Director of the Pentagon's Total Information Awareness Office."
On March 9, 2001, Richard Humphreys of Portland, Ore., was in a Watertown, S.D., bar and told the above joke. On December 6, 2002, that joke got Mr. Humphreys a 37-month sentence in federal penitentiary for "threatening to kill or harm the President."

(43 posts)The good news is that Sheriffs in Massachusetts really don't do law enforcement. They do court security and run the jail.
Second, this guy is just a dumbass. When he was elected, he appointed a landscaper with no police experience to be his second in command. The professional deputies in the department basically ate him for lunch, and he was fired on some BS rules violation.
Of course, he keeps getting re elected, so Plymouth County is getting the government they are asking for.
