Steve Kornacki to host MSNBC’s ‘Up’

Source: MSNBC

MSNBC has named Steve Kornacki the new host of its weekend morning show Up.

Kornacki, previously a co-host of MSNBC’s The Cycle, replaces Chris Hayes who had hosted the show since 2011. Hayes will move into MSNBC’s weekday 8 pm slot beginning April 1, while Ed Schultz begins a new weekend evening program, the company announced last week in a series of programming changes.

“I give so much credit to the Up team who created appointment viewing on the weekends for us and some of the smartest conversations on television,” Phil Griffin, president of MSNBC, said in a statement. “Steve has a great political mind and his ability to connect with viewers made him a natural fit to continue driving that dialogue.”

Kornacki is also a senior political writer for Salon.com and has written for the New York Observer, Roll Call, and the New York Times, among other publications.

Seeing his journalist creds it's obvious that he was over-qualified to be on that lame 'Cycle' show. Glad he escaped it.

I personally hope msnbc dumps the cycle. I know i am being Biased but if I wanted the Conservative view point i would watch fox 90% of the corporate controlled media is already conservative progressives need some place to go current had promise bit it's going nowhere.

That sounds like a lot of work and preparation. I wonder if they will fill the spot or just have 3 hosts?

Is that bouncy-boy Chris Hayes will assail TV cameras 5 days a week. That guy needs to either start drinking de-caf, or learn that you don't bounce-with-every-syllable-you-speak. It's embarrassingly inevitable that some Republican, somewhere, will make a YouTube video of him farting with every bounce.

You'd think some director would have explained to him how distracting his non-stop bouncing is. You can't even focus on what he's saying!

But I guess, when it comes between a guy who dares to speak for the working man and criticize Obama now and then, and a guy who will toe the line while bouncing like Honey Boo-Boo jacked up on Red Bull during an interview...professional standards go right out the window.

No wonder Keith Olbermann started getting frustrated at MSNBC.

LOL

My problem is that he talks too fast! I can't follow what he is saying. It might be brilliant... or not. I have no idea.

perhaps you should seek help.

And maybe you need to pay a bit more attention to what these people are saying instead of focusing on what you think they are doing. Hayes has been far more critical of Obama than I have ever heard from Ed Schultz.

Chris Hayes will have to dumb his show down a bit to compete with O'Reilly in the 5pm PST time slot. Maybe he can even bounce a few times to make you happy.

as Chris moves to 8pm. I don't mind a bit that Chris "bounces" or speaks a tad faster. So what? I do not chose to focus on that but on what is being presented and Chris does an admirable job of doing just that. He doesn't engage in seconds-only sound bites and he obviously researches his material. Steve will do a good job and be able to get away from the airheads on Cycle. C Cupp and Toure have the depth of the Platte River and they are both out of their depth. It was great one afternoon watching Bashir not let Toure speak after he started doing a plug for Cycle when Bashir had specifically told him not to. He comes across to me as just a smart ass trying to impress us all with his supposed wonderfulness. Kornacki has a lot of gifts to offer. I look forward to his program.

GREAT Choice!! UP is one of my favorite programs on the weekends. With Chris moving to Ed's old time slot, my wife and I wondered if he would still be able to carry the burden of a evening program with the wekend show and a young wife and family. Steve is an excellent host on the CYCLE and I'm sure he'll carry that professionalism along to the weekend shows. Good luck to all, ED, Chris And Steve..
