John Oliver Replacing Jon Stewart As 'Daily Show' Host June 10 To September 3
Source: Huffington Post
This summer, Jon Stewart will take an extended hiatus from "The Daily Show" to direct his first movie, "Rosewater." Comedy Central announced Wednesday that correspondent John Oliver will take over Stewart's chair beginning June 10.
"Dont worry, its still going to be everything that you love about 'The Daily Show,' just without the thing that you love the most about it," said Oliver in a statement.
The cable network previously announced that Stewart's hiatus would last 12 weeks, with Oliver guest hosting for eight of those weeks. Stewart will return to the show Tuesday, September 3.
Oliver's first week's guests are scheduled to be Seth Rogen, "Veep" creator Armando Iannucci, Mavis Staples and Fareed Zakaria.

(5,861 posts)Little fanfare accompanined Stewarts optioning of the book, which has a connection to The Daily Show: Baharis Iranian captors used his past appearance on the show as evidence against him. Bahari had taken part in a sketch in which correspondent Jason Jones interviewed three outspoken critics of Iran, including the journalist.
I remember that show, and how upsetting it was to later hear that man was arrested. I'm glad Jon Stewart took on the project.
