Hague: Israel losing UK support due to settlements

Israel has lost support in Britain and other European countries over time due to settlement activities, British Foreign Secretary William Hague said in an interview with Sky News published Friday.

Hague, who met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Thursday during a visit to Israel, made the comments in response to an interview in which Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz questioned Britain's friendship with Israel.

"Traditionally we had good relations with Britain and currently we have good intelligence cooperation with Britain and it's very successful," Steinitz told The Daily Telegraph. He added that Israel was "concerned about the relations," citing some animosity and incitement in the British media and among NGOs against Israel.

Steinitz questioned why support of Israel among the British public is "much less" than in the other Anglo Saxon democracies the US, Canada and Australia. "When you think that all four are Anglo-Saxon democracies, why should people in America, Australia or Canada have different relations to or appreciations of the minuscule Jewish state than the people of Britain," the minister queried, adding that this difference may be reflected in the British Foreign Office and British government policy.

the British were big participants in the Atlantic Slave Trade, the movement to abolish Slavery began in Britain long before it began in the American colonies. When Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, the South lost all hopes of the British intervening on their side.

Racists have even tried to use their religion to justify their superiority. Just like with everythingelse to justify their intolerance. That is why some people even dare to question religion itself. People have been conditioned to believe they are superior to others. They will end up the same like every human. I read a story of a Jew in Poland, that fled across the river, to escape the Nazi invasion because they deemed her inferior. All her relatives were not as fortunate and did not escape. She sought refuge among others who hid her when the Nazis pushed further.

Today that Jew is very old and still lives in Poland. There are very few of them left because many of the younger generation left the country and went to places like America or Israel. That Jew remained in Poland and knows what it is like to be oppressed by another race calling themselves superior. She remains in Poland because she does not use her oppression, to act like those who once oppressed her. 3. The EU does not recognise the occupied Palestinian territories as being part of the State of Israel.

Its not just Britain and SOME EU countries : its ALL EU countries. In the case of the Britain its also not just our government and some NGOs its our trade unions too. Our TUC voted to ban ALL imports from the settlements.

The UK and Denmark also ensure that imports from the settlements , which are subject to higher import tariffs , are labelled as such - as opposed to the "back door" use of Israel as the origin.
