George Zimmerman murder trial begins with judge denying delay

Source: Fox News

The trial for George Zimmerman, the Florida neighborhood watch captain accused of murdering teen Trayvon Martin while on patrol, began Monday with the judge denying the defense's request to delay the trial.

Circuit Judge Debra Nelson rejected the request after lead defense attorney Mark O'Mara told the judge his defense team needed several more weeks to prepare.

"We're not fully ready and need more time," O'Mara said.

O'Mara blamed prosecutors for a delay in turning over evidence and said he needs time to interview an attorney for Martin's family. Prosecutors opposed the request for a delay.

He appointed himself to be a watch captain and papers never add the 'self appointed'. appleannie1 Jun 2013 #6

Jury selection has begun for the trial of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, with jurors filling out questionnaires to determine their thoughts and feelings on the high-profile case.

Potential jurors began arriving by the dozens at the Seminole County courthouse this morning, some of whom could leave on the panel of what is sure to be one of the most-watched trials in county history.

In the second-degree murder case against Zimmerman, Circuit Judge Debra S. Nelson and attorneys will chose a panel of six jurors plus four alternates.

And he is either blanched at the denial of the request, or he's staying out of the sun, to look pale.

I don't think it's poorly written. I think it's deliberate pro-Zimmerman spin.

he was driving to some store. The national media has done a dreadful job on reporting it.

If Zimmerman's lawyer's claim that Corey is playing hide and go seek with evidence is true, and she is the kind of DA that does it, it is a dangerous game. She already has someone in her office facing jail for deleting texts from Trayvon's phone. This is the DA that sent a woman to prison for 20 years for firing a warning shot at her POS abusive husband. If they forget to turn over anything exculpatory, any conviction would be automatically reversed under Florida's sunshine laws. Had Casey Anthony been convicted of any of the felonies, she would have walked for that very reason.

Even if they turn over everything, at this late date the judge's ruling could be reversible error for denying him a fair trail.
