Egypt army says ready to die in "final hours"

(Reuters) - Egypt's high command said on Wednesday the army was ready to die to defend Egypt's people against terrorists and fools, in a response to Islamist President Mohamed Mursi that was headlined "The Final Hours".

The post on the official Facebook page of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), headed by armed forces chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, said: "We swear to God that we will sacrifice even our blood for Egypt and its people, to defend them against any terrorist, radical or fool."

Issued three hours after Mursi appeared on television to reject an ultimatum from Sisi that he share power with his opponents or face a military solution by 10:00 a.m. EDT (1500 GMT), a military source said the statement made clear that the armed forces would not abandon their demands.

Usually, a coup does not give advanced notice. This is so much more civil Coyotl Jul 2013 #4

This should go well, then.

This is the military's signal that they're not going to be swayed, and I'm pretty sure they mean what they say. Mursi will huff and pufff for a while, but will back down. He has no real option except to back down, at least somewhat. If he continues as-is, there will be a coup, the military will depose him, take interim power, and we'll have new elections rolling out again in three months or so. if he decides to o something stupid and make a move against the military... well... Well if he does that, then the right-wingers on our shore won't have much of a Muslim Brotherhood left to make conspiracy theories about.

Morsi need only not resign, and force the military to execute its coup, and direct his supporters to not recognize all that follows. That would mean the potential defeat of a coup attempt.

Middle East the beginning of culture, now maybe the ending of it.

Its beyond me of the total hatred between people who are from the same region. Religion, politics, and even tribes, I dunno.
