http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-02-18/obama-urges-congress-to-reward-companies-that-keep-jobs-in-u-s-.htmlPresident Barack Obama urged Congress to enact tax proposals that reward technology companies and other businesses that help create jobs in the U.S. rather than overseas.
Boeing Co., whose Everett, Washington, jet factory Obama visited yesterday, has put thousands of folks to work all over the country, Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address. We want to see more of this. We need to make it as easy as we can for our companies to create more jobs in America. And that starts with our tax code.
Obama said U.S. businesses created 3.7 million new jobs over the past 23 months, adding, Companies like Boeing are realizing that even when we cant make things cheaper than China, we can make things better. Thats how were going to compete globally.
No company should get a tax break for outsourcing jobs, Obama said. He urged helping manufacturers who set up shop here at home, particularly technology companies. And Congress should send me that kind of tax reform right away.

(8,545 posts)I think we the voters should get behind this idea and do our part.
If we voters can put enough pressure on our own congress critters, we can help make this happen.

(8,545 posts)should do everything we can to make this a talking point.
Have you written a letter to the editor? Have you called in to a radio or TV show?
Me neither. But I should.
The more the general public hears about this idea, the more I think the public will get behind it just the way they got behind the idea of extending the payroll tax cut.

(6,335 posts)Does O also call for PUNISHING those companies that do outsource? Or just finding another reason to excuse handing over more of our tax $$ to vampire corporations? As in, "we'll let you get away with tax breaks and loopholes if you outsource, but give you BIGGER tax breaks and loopholes if you stay in US?"
They all make pretty noises like "keep jobs in US" when they're running for office - but watch who they put in power once in.
By their actions, not their words.
And to the poster asking if people have written their bought and sold Congresscritters about this - yes, millions of us, over and over again. It's not exactly a new idea that keeping jobs in the US is a good thing for workers, now is it? It doesn't matter how many letters we write or calls we make - our pockets are not deep enough.
