FEC to Sestak: Declare Candidacy, or Disavow

Source: Politics PA

The Federal Election Commission says Joe Sestak has passed the threshold of exploring a run for Senate in 2016 and must declare himself a candidate – or disavow his bid.

In a letter to Sestak’s campaign committee, the FEC notes that his fundraising and spending activity exceeded $5,000 and thus he meets the criteria of an active candidate.

“You have thirty-five (35) days from receipt of this notification to disavow these activities,” the letter states, or “you should file a Statement of Candidacy.”

The deadline for Sestak’s response is August 30.

I thought for sure he would be in. Not sure why he is being so coy and waiting until the last minute. I live in PA (outside Philadelphia). Alot of people are "meh" about Toomey. It could be a pick-up for us if we run the right person.

Is this about Sestak running for Governor? Rep. Allison Schwartz seems to be the favorite. PA has a history of keeping governors for full 8 year terms. Although Corbett's numbers are pretty low.
