Filner sued by the city he leads

Source: San Diego Union-Tribune

Mayor Bob Filner is now being sued by the city he leads.

The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a cross-complaint against Filner seeking indemnity for all damages the city may have to pay as a result of a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against the mayor earlier this month.

"This is part of due process," said City Attorney Jan Goldsmith. "If Bob Filner is engaged in unlawful conduct and the city is held liable, he will have to reimburse us every penny the city pays and its attorney fees."

In the cross-complaint filed Tuesday, the city doesn't admit liability while seeking indemnification from Filner. It is predicated on Filner's personal liability and the city's "zero tolerance policy as to sexual harassment and sexual harassment is not within the course and scope of employment."

replacement will be a Republican, I'm not sure that any of us should be cheering this on.

If that's really the cause of this, maybe he should consider filing a workman's comp claim for working in a job which made him a little crazy.

For starters, a letter with intent to sue from the Dept of Fair aEmployment and Housing takes on average six months to process.

The lawsuit process started well before Jan Goldsmith told us he was filing charges.

I got the civil complaint on my table, one of the exhibits is exactly that letter.

This is fully self inflicted and all the women who have come out are progressive Democrats.
