State Health Director resigns from DHHS (with copy of resignation letter)

Post on July 31, 2013
by Sarah Ovaska

Last night, the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services announced that state health director, one of the top positions in the agency, has resigned.

Dr. Laura Gerald, a pediatrician who had been in the position since for the last 18 months, had served as the State Health Director and the director of the state division of public health.

No reason for her resignation was given by Wos, but a copy of Gerald’s resignation letter obtained by N.C. Policy Watch indicates she was uncomfortable with the policies being pushed in DHHS.

“Although I have demonstrated the ability to produce accomplishments that require work and collaboration with diverse groups and across political aisles, I acknowledge that I have significant differences and disagreements with many of the policy and administrative directions that I see unfolding in North Carolina and in the Department of Health and Human Services,” Gerald wrote. “These differences are making it increasingly impossible to continue to be effective in my current role.”

N.C. Policy Watch obtained a copy of Gerald’s resignation letter from a reader, and have confirmed it is real. She cites “significant differences and disagreements with many of the policy and administrative directions that I see unfolding in North Carolina and in the Department of Health and Human Services” as her reason for leaving.

against bad policy. People are so afraid of job security, that they lose self respect and do what ever they are told, no matter who gets hurt. When my V.A. doctor said "If I don't do what the DEA tells me I'll lose my license to write prescriptions." She lost all my respect, so I requested another doctor and I got one. Bottom line she didn't give one rats ass about me, didn't give a fuck how much pain I had. It was all about her job. To "do no harm nor injustice". To herself anyways.

voted. Did they not?

These Republican state senators and councils did not appear overnight.

Now, we will see the effect.

At any rate, vote the fuckers out.

The hardest voting laws in the country. Only rich white Christians will be able to vote in their state.

and a pipe dream on their part. You know what will happen if they try to prevent a native North Carolinian like me from voting? I'm also a U.S. veteran. Take a very good look at the U.S. Constitution and read it word for word. And the U.S. Justice Department will have every legal right to intervene, dispite the stooges in the U.S. Supreme Court. You should also read the North Carolina State constitution in the after math of an event called the American Civil War about voting.

That is why it surprises me nobody even brings it up. The Supreme court and politicians of today are wrong to keep referring back to the original constitution about states' rights before the American Civil War. The Southern States came under occupation after that War and had to give up certain rights to get back in the Union as full status. They can't infringe on the rights of people to vote. Owning an ID card to vote would be personal property by definition. You can't use property to determine if a person can vote. So that is Unconstitutional. I wouldn't consider just registering to vote violates it, but an ID card would.

Voter ID-- help them get their ID.

You can do what you can to work within the system but ultimately, if the other side has convinced a majority to drink their brand of snake oil, there is not much you can do-- there is the choice to move, not available for most as we are moving into an era of decreased freedom of movement. There is the the other choice to operate outside the system and get things done which translates to a choice of civil disobedience/breaking the law. That is what had been done in civil rights era but it was not to really change the system as it exists-- it merely served to include more people in the system. Such cases can be used to bring issues to the courts. What happens when the courts are headed by the snake oil drinkers?

I think timing will be everything.

officials from other states, like Louisianna to take over North Carolina agencies. It is a rightwing take over of North Carolina. McCrory is a traitor to North Carolinians. That is why we need to change the State Constitution and allow the citizens the power to recall a tyrant like McCrory with referendims and initiatives statewide. That is why McCrory and the Legislators are ignoring the wishes of the people of North Carolina. They are protected from a recall. North Carolina is more of a Purple state trending Blue because of the fast changing population.

The entire NCDHHS is corrupt to the core.
I had dealings with them back in 2001. Ever wonder why the Westgate postal facility, which serves all mail for NC, tested positive for Anthrax. I'll give you a hint. It's not the BS story they released to the press about a bundle of contaminated stamps.
And, here is another hint. Ottilie Lundgren and Cathy Nguyen did have something in common.
Can I back that up?
Sure can.
B/c of the corruption at the NCDHHS and their collusion with our local FBI; I still have the Anthrax that was mailed to me to prove it.
