a Lot of GOP-er's I know...well let me put it this way: They think the Banks should have been allowed to fail. This is a Conservative (traditional) position ONLY in comparision to the practice of Neo-liberalism, which is another way of them saying "No, actually I DON'T support the idea of a Global Corporate State, and the neo-economic feudalism that comes with it."

On social issues, they are starting to come around (gay marraige). As far as the Roe Decision, I would bet that America adopting the (I think) French system would be fine with most of us: abortions of choice are limited to the first trimester, minus the decision of a doctor regarding the health of the mother...BUT access to universal health, child and parent care, as well as the accepted morality of contraceptives, is a GIVEN in that system. Our agrument should be, "if you guys want to MANDATE the cradle, then sure as hell you're going to help pay for the rest of it." The ones that AREN'T willing to help pay for it, will either shut up and go away, or scream so loud that the rest of us will just start ignoring them lol.

I also don't think a lot of them actually CARE about the size of Government, as long as it's easy to demonstrate that that Government is actually working in the interests of We The People. NOT letting the Banks go under was a sign that our Governmnet is NOT, and the only people that still actually shape opinions over there told the rest of them "well, that's because Dirty Liberals run the world. See, we told you so."

Cruel, heartless and just plain mean. It's rather sad they've sunk so low. I know some good people who I now feel uncomfortable around because they give out the negative energy of Fox talking points. sigh.

Honest to God, why do they believe John Birch Society ideas are shared by mainstream Americans? Keep Going Right GOP! That's a great plan for success!

First the local gerrymandering guarantees a large contingent of Republicans in Congress no matter what happens.
Those constituents vote "R" automatically with no regard to the consequences.

The second thing is an 'if', but if a real Democratic scandal appears, or is ginned up by the Republicans convincingly, we may get an election cycle where Republicans take over simply because the Democrats would be in disfavor.

If this happens, the mad tea party would have it's hands around the throat of America.
Once they hold the reins of power, with their short term view of the future and total disregard for honor or logic, they could push through draconian laws designed to eliminate liberals from government permanently.

Just don't get too cocky.
Things are not as certain as they might appear.

Just trying to remain hopeful that enough people will see what the Rethuglicans really intend, and will take the needed actions to stop them.

better understanding of what is at play here. There are negative forces and there are positive forces. When they collide, they eventually explode. One way of getting control of government is peaceful, while the second way is violent. The ultimate power lies in people though. One example where this country couldn't get along was the American civil War. President Lincoln had a lot of foresight, when he claimed a house Divided against itself cannot stand.

That is still the same case today. You have people in this country that are afraid of a changing America, just like their fore fathers. They can't adjust to change and want to return to the past or keep the status quo. Unfortunately for them, change is a part of natural causes. They cannot turn back the clock or stop the inevitable, of a changing America. They will try very hard to stop it, but they are fighting a losing battle. The people they try to oppress, will not live under their tyranny, especially people born today, that are not use to it. They may think they are saving things for their children or future generations but just like the generations of the Past, they will be long gone. When future Generations look back on it, which legacy do they want their children to remember them by?

In fact, if the lined up with Attala, it would be a more moderate party than the party of Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin and Jesse Helms.
