Forney police officer to be questioned over Zimmerman stop
Source: KDFW (Fox 4 Dallas/Fort Worth)
The City of Forney plans to question the police officer who pulled over George Zimmerman because the officer reportedly took a picture with his personal phone during the stop.
The Forney city manager told FOX4 the officer is not under investigation, but officials are looking into a claim the officer took a picture of Zimmerman's driver's license.
The sound of an iPhone camera click' can be heard on dashcam footage while the officer was in his squad car calling in Zimmerman's driver's license information.
After that you can hear the 'unlock' sound and typing on the keyboard.

(68,644 posts)The officer asked Zimmerman where he was going and Zimmerman responded "nowhere in particular."
When the officer asked why he responded that way, Zimmerman said, "You didn't see my name?" The officer, after a second, said, "Wow, what a coincidence."
Zimmerman was given a verbal warning by the officer for speeding and allowed to continue after a check to make sure there were no outstanding warrants.

(1,314 posts)But I meant, I thought the camera that was on the car, took a still shot for some reason (when I heard the click sound of the camera). I didn't think of the fact that the policeman was taking a pic of the drivers license.

(16,199 posts)particularly their overuse of escalation and violence, the tendency to deny rights like photographing them on a sidewalk, and their always getting away with murder in shootings, but I can't agree with termination of employment here.
Photographing the license is worth a formal reprimand, but not firing the officer. As for not giving a ticket, that's always the officers discretion.

Just driving "nowhere in particular" while crossing part of FL, Ala, La and part of TX? Really?
Gas is over $4/gal in some states and he can just burn it up going nowhere in particular?

And I got a ticket. I guess I'm the wrong color(black) and I'm not a murderer.

(966 posts)since when do you need a reason to be in any state, or need to tell a cop where you're going.
wordpix
(18,652 posts)Zimmerman crosses 4 states and says he has no particular reason to do that when asked by the cop. Zim has gun in the car and has admitted shooting an unarmed boy. This raises no questions in your mind that he drove all this way and tells the cop it's for no reason, esp. when gas is $4/gal.?
You're not very curious or analytical about this joy ride.

Crossing 4 states is completely legal. I have done it many times.
No citizen is required to tell a cop where they are going if asked by a cop. Z doesn't have to either.
Gun in the car - Completely legal in Texas. Z still has his FL CCW, and it TX has reciprocity with FL on concealed carry. So do GA, AL, MS, & LA.
Admited shooting - Trial found him "Not Guilty". Therefore no restrictions can by imposed on him.
That's the law. Obviously you think LEOs should violate the law where Z is concerned. But if they can violate it against the people you don't like, someday they will violate it against you.

(5,231 posts)during traffic stop will not be punished, report says
(CBS) FORNEY, Texas - A police officer who pulled over George Zimmerman for speeding in Texas and allegedly took a picture with his iPhone during the traffic stop will not be punished, MyFoxDFW.com reports.
An official in the city of Forney reportedly told the station that the officer took the picture to send to his lieutenant because he wanted his superiors to be aware of whom he stopped in case there were questions from the media.
