Republican National Committee To CNN, NBC: Cancel Hillary Clinton Programming
Source: Huffington Post
The Republican National Committee on Monday threatened not to partner with NBC and CNN for the 2016 Republican primary debates if the networks don't cancel their plans to air documentaries on Hillary Clinton.
"It's appalling to know executives at major networks like NBC and CNN who have donated to Democrats and Hillary Clinton have taken it upon themselves to be Hillary Clinton's campaign operatives," RNC chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement. "Their actions to promote Secretary Clinton are disturbing and disappointing."
Priebus added that if the networks do not agree to pull their programming prior to the start of the RNC's Summer Meeting on Aug. 14, he will "seek a binding vote stating that the RNC will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor."
In recent weeks, CNN announced a documentary on Clinton that will run in theaters and on TV. NBC said it was planning a miniseries starring Diane Lane as the former secretary of state.

(256 posts)that all the gas bagging about Bengazhi isn't tarnishing Hillary. The repugnant party diehards are terrified of her!!!!!! I longing imagine what it might be like if Hillary had beat Barry for the White House. She knows better than to try to negotiate with the rabid right; she's been through the ringer with Bill. And she's a strong woman. Everything those impotent louts fear

(21,475 posts)They, (Republican operatives), fought tooth and nail to air a negative made for TV show filled with LIES about Hillary and they took it all the way to the Extreme Court and now they are crying the blues because of another show about Hillary.... Same as they did in 2001 when the crowd booed the stolen election then. Oh, so very telling, both of those times. It's no wonder they never give Obama the time of day.

(113,010 posts)And they only used George Bush in the title, not George H W Bush, that would distinguish the two.
Only the Bush family gets to set the rules for when documentaries air.
And I say that as no fan of the Clintons.

(30,247 posts)CNN Calls Republicans Hillary Clinton Threat Disservice to Voters
CNN Films, a division of CNN Worldwide, commissioned a documentary about Hillary Clinton earlier this year. It is expected to premiere in 2014 with a theatrical run prior to airing on CNN. This documentary will be a non-fiction look at the life of a former First Lady and Secretary of State. Instead of making premature decisions about a project that is in the very early stages of development and months from completion, we would encourage the members of the Republican National Committee to reserve judgment until they know more. Should they decide not to participate in debates on CNN, we would find it curious, as limiting their debate participation seems to be the ultimate disservice to voters.

(1,389 posts)I think it would make for great data collection. Imagine candidates broadcasting to only their own audience relative to every election, policy question, etc. For those who say that they never listen to polls, this has the possibility to alter perception. Bring it on, I say.

(5,751 posts)From what I've seen in my (older) and my children's (20s and30s) world, many if not most are cutting the cable. If they want to see the debates, they'll watch them on tube. They get their tv from netflix and amazon, news from the internet. Cable is only for sports fans, and that's probably next to go.
