Two 19-year-old Kazakh friends of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were indicted by a federal grand jury with allegedly hindering a federal probe in the days after the April 15 attack.
Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov, both Kazakhstan citizens who were living in Massachusetts on student visas, were charged today with conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstructing justice with the intent to impede the bombing investigation, according to a statement by U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz in Boston.
Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov are accused of removing a backpack containing fireworks from Tsarnaevs college dormitory room on April 18 after authorities released pictures identifying him as a suspect in the attack that killed three people and injured more than 260 near the races finish line. They also agreed to dispose of the bag to protect their friend, the U.S. said.

However, the person is Robel Phillipos, who has been accused of lying to FBI agents investigating the aftermath of the bombing. Phillipos has not been indicted, and court papers filed Thursday indicated that his attorney and the government were in negotiations to deal with his case.
Phillipos is under home confinement and must wear an electronic bracelet, federal officials said.

(18,652 posts)Otherwise, why the smiley face? Why did the two take the laptop and backpack, and not his clothes and shoes?
If a friend texted me to "take what's there" I'd be wondering what he's talking about. I wouldn't know to take a backpack and laptop unless that was specified---or unless I knew ahead of time what "what's there" meant.
These 2 look guilty as hell so far.
