Dana Rohrabacher, GOP House Science Committee Member: 'Global Warming Is A Total Fraud'
Source: Huffington
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.), a longtime member of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, recently brushed aside concern that the wildfires currently scorching across his state and causing millions of dollars of damage have anything to do with climate change. In fact, he told constituents at a town hall that "global warming is a total fraud," employed by liberals to "create global government."
In a video captured by Lee Fang of The Nation, Rohrabacher laughed off a claim made last week by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) that the unusual intensity of this year's wildfire season should give rise to a more serious debate about how climate change is affecting the temperature and length of the dry season.
"Just so you'll know, global warming is a total fraud and it's being designed because what youve got is youve got liberals who get elected at the local level want state government to do the work and let them make the decisions," Rohrabacher said. "Then, at the state level, they want the federal government to do it. And at the federal government, they want to create global government to control all of our lives."
The friendly town hall audience seemed to agree with Rohrabacher's contention that humans were incapable of changing earth's climate, giving a collective chuckle. The congressman then appeared to make an offhand reference to Agenda 21, a set of UN-created sustainable development recommendations that the tea party and other Republicans have put forth as an example of how the government will use the threat of climate change to seize property and control the lives of its citizens.

To paraphrase Paul Krugman, the growing insanity of the GOP is the political issue of our time.

(3,596 posts)This cretin is, to my knowledge, not educated or works in the area of climate or related fields.
The overwhelming consensus of non knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing critters is that global climate change is happening AND the activities of mankind are at least, to some degree, responsible for these changes.
He pretends he is an expert when the only thing over which he is an expert is how to wank his 3" penis and how to defecate.
Good grief....when will the American people wake up and throw the stupid out of Congress? I guess only when the last Republican is laid to rest. Because they are the party of stupid if I ever saw one.

(46,301 posts)Rohrabacher voiced support for the Taliban when they seized power in the 1990s, visiting Afghanistan when it came under their control, saying that the Taliban would provide "stability", and eliminate threats to the United States. He also claimed the Taliban "intend to establish a disciplined, moral society". He said he believed complete Taliban control over Afghanistan would be a "positive development", that they were "devout traditionalists, not terrorists or revolutionaries", and that "sensationalist" media coverage of the Taliban's introduction of Sharia law was "nonsense".

(31,493 posts)<snip> The name suggests they are lobotomized humans without a conscience but the truth is even more invasive. Their brains have been replaced with advanced Tesla coils, that allow them to do more than perform simple tasks such as using doors, walking, and fighting hand-to-hand or with firearms. They also have better resistance to chem addiction and shock from bodily damage. They are now actively hostile. Unable to talk normally they mainly grunt but some can at times be heard saying "die," "stop you," and "never". It also appears that the Tesla coils give them a relatively long life since a lobotomite called Test Subject 1, probably the first created in Big MT, is still alive in 2281.
Dr. Dala calls them "skinvelopes." Her observations report that 43% of the time when two lobotomites are left together, they will either fight for dominance or "...inject bodily fluids into each others' orifices."

(14,887 posts)that picture enlarged to life size and had a wall in his local office papered w/ it.
This slime ball keeps getting elected because the idiots in this district do not know his voting record. Without a good local newspaper for much of his incumbency, it is now the local blogs keeping his insanity before the voters.
He must have had a town hall by invitation only because he is afraid of 'the public'.
At the 4th of July parade this year, he was booed. That news gave me hope.

(11,905 posts)flooded before, a huge tree fell on our house last year (Sandy), and in the last month and a half our family has had to shelter in the basement 3x due to tornado warnings. Now, whether they want to call it 'cyclical' or 'global warming', I know for a fact that the weather is way different than it used to be. I've grown up here (in the same town in DE) 50 years. My mom was fanatical about storms and safety, but I have never had to actually shelter during a tornado warning, experienced hurricane damage, or been stuck some place locally because the roads to/from were flash flooded.
I woke the kids up early this morning by telling them grab their stuff and head to the basement because my phone alerted that we were under a tornado warning, then the hail started. They were complaining about having to go in the basement, but after the loud hail started, they stopped fussing and just waited it out. A few weeks ago, we had a tornado touch down less than a mile from our house. We came out this morning to go to work and saw tons of limbs down in our yard and neighborhood, mulch/leaves all over the place and roads closed due to flooding, but no new damage to our house . Our darned dog hates going down the basement steps and refused to come when called. She hopped in the tub and wouldn't get out until we forced her out when hubby went to take his shower this morning.
