Man Whose Dog Was Fatally Shot By Hawthorne Police Pleads Not Guilty To Felony Charges
Source: KNX Newsradio Los Angeles
The owner of a Rottweiler that was shot and killed by Hawthorne police in July was charged Tuesday with multiple felonies stemming from video taken of the incident.
Leon Cordell Rosby, 52, was arraigned Tuesday on two counts of dissuading a witness from prosecuting a crime, intimidation of witness and making criminal threats, and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, the Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office said. He plead not guilty to all counts.
Mark Geragos, Rosbys attorney, told KNX1070′s Claudia Peschiutta the police are out for revenge after Rosby filed a complaint alleging he was beat up by Hawthorne police last year.
Its payback, said Geragos. Its police payback, because somebody had the temerity to film them.

(8,267 posts)just create an honest felony, and call it the "Skin Too Dark" felony? That's probably a little TOO honest for cops, huh?

(26,236 posts)like that then yes they are likely to arrest that person, the charges may or may not stick of course if the DA decides to prosecute you but nonetheless you will still probably be arrested.
As for shooting the dog maybe they could have avoided it by carefully escorting him to the vehicle to assist him in securing the dog for its own protection and then arrested him I dont know but what I do know is if he had just remained in his car and not gotten out to begin his little verbal exchange with them while they were busy dealing with another incident the dog would probably still be alive.

Your little story-time session here, frankly, it's just bizarre and oddly authoritarian in nature.

(26,236 posts)If you had then you would have noticed that he got out of the car and began to bother the police while they were involved with dealing with another crime totally unrelated to him the police didnt go to his car and begin the chain of events.

(564 posts)to say the least. Some of the comments on there are ugly. I have no idea what they mean by Rosby intimidating witnesses. I don't believe it. The pig who shot him has already cost HPD 1 million for a brutality suit.

(966 posts)Then put the dog back in the car, with the windows down? And they say he confronted the woman who shot the 2nd video at her house

(22,651 posts)actually a lesson for the dog owner public.
Use a regular dog leash not a flexi. You have no control w/ flexi, dogs learn to dart out when they want, you'll lose a finger or get bad burns if a flexi gets tangled on you.
If you put your dog in the car with windows down, pull the regular leash through the handle and place the loop over the seat headrest. Make sure it's short enough leash where the dog can't jump out the window and hang. Don't leave the dog unattended when it's leashed like this.
police will kill your dog, they seem to like killing pets. if you see one coming..grab your dogs collar so they won't shoot because you're right there. hopefully they won't shoot.
