Members of GOP cite dissatisfaction with LePage, legislative Republicans in mass resignation letter
Source: Bangor Daily News
AUGUSTA, Maine A group of a dozen Republicans upset with party politics at the national and state levels and dismayed by the actions of Gov. Paul LePage and GOP members of the Legislature have resigned from the party en masse.
Among those who quit the party are Mark Willis of Dennysville, who is a Republican National Committeeman, Sam Canders, who lost a bid last month to serve as chairman of the Maine Republican Party, and several people who supported presidential candidate Ron Paul in 2012 only to be shut out of the Republican National Convention.
Bryan Daugherty, who was one of the Paul supporters and who resigned from the Penobscot County Republican Committee, said he attended a Republican National Committee meeting last week in Boston that represented the last straw.
Were trying to restore the voice of the grassroots people, said Daugherty. Weve been fighting that same cause and others at many levels from the state party to the RNC. Ive found that theyre not welcoming any type of discussion. For me it just comes down to the definition of insanity is continuing to do the same thing over and over again.

(65,336 posts)in their state wasn't extreme enough to satisfy them on some points. These are Paulite Republicans, not moderates who are horrified at Republican extremism.
Still, anything that drives a wedge between factions in the Republican Party is good news.

(13,920 posts)Their points were
*not enough national fiscal conservatives have positions of power
*National R's not putting limits on the NSA
*Too much gun control
*state R's not supporting Lepage Budget.
*Lepage supports too many taxes
*lepage hasn't done enough to prevent surveillance
