Fukushima nuclear plant: Radioactive water leak found

Source: BBC

Radioactive water has leaked from a storage tank into the ground at Japan's Fukushima plant, its operator says.

Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) said the leak of at least 300 tonnes of the highly radioactive water was discovered on Monday.
...
An employee discovered the leak on Monday morning, Tepco said in a statement.

Officials described the leak as a level-one incident - the lowest level - on the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (Ines), which measures nuclear events.

This is the first time that Japan has declared such an event since the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, however.

Was it next to the super deep hole containing the molten core? That's where I'd look... silvershadow Aug 2013 #1
No, it's not the same as the daily leak of groundwater in and out muriel_volestrangler Aug 2013 #2

After reading the story, this apparently isn't anything to do with the 300 tons daily leaking into the ocean? Not sure, but it said something about a "puddle".

What a coincidence that 300 tonnes had leaked. Glad they got that fixed, all is well again.

The Japanese government has been engaging in a cover-up on this disaster since the beginning. Roll a die and I bet* that the number shown will be much closer to the appropriate level of the incident.

*figure of speech, I'm too poor to make an actual wager

Japan nuclear agency upgrades Fukushima alert level

...
But Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority proposes elevating it to level three on the seven-point scale.

Japanese reports say it is a provisional move that had to be confirmed with the IAEA, the UN's nuclear agency.

And "it's just a level 1 incident," they say -- a low level problem, nothing to worry about.

These arsewipes are as incompetent with math as they are with burning their nuclear garbage. The lot of 'em -- management and engineers, and every politician who's aided and abetted their criminal coverup -- should be stripped to their skivvies, issued sponges, and set to mopping up the mess they created. It won't solve the problem but it'll help clear away many of the obstructions that currently block the world's ability to understand the scope of the situation.
