Republicans Are Losing August

Source: Yahoo News

And they're on their way to losing the next presidential election, too
A new Gallup poll finds the summer has once again not been kind to President Obama, with his approval rate dipping yet again. In fact, August has historically been the worst month for his approval rating throughout his presidency.

But there's a big difference this year: Republicans have had a worse summer.

Halfway through the August recess, congressional Republicans are still fighting with each other over the direction of their party. While they're united in hating ObamaCare, they have no coherent strategy for confronting Democrats and the president. Some want to shut down the government in an attempt to defund ObamaCare, some want to use the debt ceiling as leverage, and some think both ideas are nuts.

Newt Gingrich even slammed Republicans for having "zero answer" when it comes to an alternative health care plan.

The battle highlights a huge divide in the Republican Party, which impacts nearly every issue before Congress. Ten months after a brutal loss in the 2012 election, the battle for the heart and soul of the party rages.

I could consider this kinda good news given the Manning verdict.

it always amazes me how a woman, person of color, member of the GLBT community, teacher, social worker, union member or some one making less and 150K a year can support the repukes

The ones that have made a lot of money off war have voted for the party they feel defends their position. They voted for the Iraq war in 2004 and bombing Iran in 2008.

Now some are seeing the Sequester cuts hit them. Perhaps they will get into some other kind of work, but they won't be getting it from the government they voted to starve until it was small enough to drown in a bathtub.

They thought all of the cuts would fall on 'those people.' But we're all 'those people' to other people.

what they want is already in place...

Caps on coverage
Being able to drop people when they are sick
not having to cover preexisting conditions.
no caps on premiums.
being able to charge more for being a woman

socialized cost of doing business, privatized profits

and ACA is ending the gravy train for their corporate paymasters...

THE STATE OF THIS COUNTRY & HER PEOPLE ISN'T A FUCKING SPORTS CONTEST!!

It's not about 'which party wins' or 'which party looks bad' .... you and me and Joe and Jane SixPack are being fucked out of a future on a daily basis by the Corporate Bastards with the money to influence every aspect of our lives.

To hell with the "American Idol"-ization of the political process.

I have not seen a single good word about republicans in my 11 years here, except for trolls who were booted before their 100th posts. So please link me to a few posts by experienced DUers which would indicate that the posters will be happy about a GOP win

TIA

All three branches of the federal government are out of control and out of touch.

There are very few elected officials who have not sold out to corporate extortionists -- oh, sorry, I mean campaign donors.

If they could think of a way to do it that helped big biz and hurt civilians more, they would. But they're stuck just saying "Take that splinter away from that drowning man!" at the top of their lungs.
