Koch Industries no longer interested in Tribune papers

Source: USA Today

Koch Industries, a conglomerate controlled by Charles and David Koch, no longer wants to buy the Tribune Company's newspapers.

But "Koch continues to have an interest in the media business and we're exploring a broad range of opportunities where we think we can add value," the company said in a statement.

The Daily Caller, an online news site, first reported the development.

Koch conducted a due diligence assessment of the eight daily newspapers that Tribune has put up for sale, including The Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune, but determined that a deal wan't financially viable.

No one with a brain still reads the WSJ, or follows Fox, or any of the other forays into media the Leeches buy up.

They can try. Wasted money. Cheaper just to put a gun to our heads. And don't think they aren't working on just how to do that --

They own the Supreme Court, after all. That's the important Koch property.

Now the only reason to have it is to line a bird case or cat box.

I was getting close to canceling my LA Times subscription. Gotta have my morning paper. And getting the NY Times in SoCal is a jillion bucks a year. The SF Chronicle isn't bad. My husband would come unglued without a local Sports section. And our county paper, The Press-Enterprise, in this conservative shit hole of a county sucks.

It's painful to read. I like the LA Times. I don't live in that area anymore so I don't buy it, but I love having a paper paper to enjoy with my morning coffee.
