Reports: Bob Filner signs resignation letter
Source: Politico
Several California news outlets on Friday reported the letter-signing, hours before the council takes up Filners case. Eighteen women have so far accused the Democratic mayor of sexual harassment, including his former communications director, who is now represented by celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred in a lawsuit against Filner and the city.
Filner, lawyers and city representatives spent three days in mediation talks this week and reportedly reached a deal on Wednesday. The San Diego City Council will assess the proposal in a meeting Friday afternoon.

Giving him more time to spend harassing his family?

(68,644 posts)I never thought twice about hugs and 'innocent' neck rubs before spending 2 plus years as a witness to it.
It explains what happened to two former female employees who always seemed mysteriously tight-lipped about why they were no longer at the same job.
Sad thing is that unless they all talk to each other, past and current victims, male and female, each is left feeling alone and powerless.
What's more, in this instance, the physical contact was used to express dominance over other males in the office.
It makes me nauseous that he's still in a position of authority and respect.
So for San Diego, good riddance.

(20,876 posts)The guy kept calling me and saying vile things about how he could screw me good, touching my ass, my boob. I complained to the supervisor ( a male) who said it was probably my fault as he said I was flirting ( I did not). It got to the point that I lost sleep, dreading going to work etc. He even used to stick his tongue out at me in a disgusting matter. I finally left but six months later a women who was my friend told me he was picking on another woman and she remembered I complained and didn't get any results. Finally more women emerged and he got transferred. Years later I found out he got sent out to San Francisco from New York for the same thing. I feel for those 18 women and probably countless others. When it happens to you it's a nightmare. I have been harassed since many times and when it happened i immediately went to the supervisor and told them what was happening and the men stopped. I learned one has to speak out right away and not let them get away with it.

(1,805 posts)is that the city has agreed to pay some of his legal bills. I don't give a shit if he's a Dem, a Rethug or an asshole (which he is). That is totally unfair to the taxpayers. How he got elected in such a conservative city is beyond me. We live next door to San Diego and this whole section of SoCal is GOP land. Well, at least Bono got voted out last year. Now if Issa could get his ass kicked!
