US Rep. Bachmann says she'll seek old Minn. seat
By PATRICK CONDON
Associated Press

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Former Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann says she'll run for re-election in her old Minnesota congressional district, even though a state judicial panel redrew the map to put her home in a Democratic incumbent's district.

Bachmann would have faced an eventual battle against six-term U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum if she decided to run in the new 4th District, where her home is located.

Instead, Bachmann told The Associated Press she plans to run again in the 6th District, which she currently represents. Members of Congress don't have to live in the district they represent. She says she doesn't know if she'll establish a residence in the new 6th District.

She quit the presidential race last month after finishing last place in Iowa's kickoff caucuses.

they're representing. And be an American citizen. Other than that, I'm guessing they're free to reside anywhere within that state. On the other hand, if the district isn't close (as in adjacent to) the district where the candidate resides, you can bet the opposing candidate will run with the "...out of touch with <such-and-such> district voters." and just kill that candidate during election. It's one thing to live a few blocks away. It's another to live in Los Angeles and represent San Francisco (not that I'm claiming Pelosi lives in LA).

She's only a few miles outside the new 6th district line. Early speculation is that the new 6th will be a bit more Republican in nature.

If she loses, it's Fox News, or some other media outlet. She's not smart or savvy enough to be a lobbyist, I gather.

In Michele Bachmann's home district, evangelicals have created an extreme anti-gay climate. After a rash of suicides, the kids are fighting back.

Every morning, Brittany Geldert stepped off the bus and bolted through the double doors of Fred Moore Middle School, her nerves already on high alert, bracing for the inevitable.

"Dyke."

Pretending not to hear, Brittany would walk briskly to her locker, past the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders who loitered in menacing packs.
