(Idaho Governor) Otter signs anti-Occupy bill, orders Boise campers to vacate by 5 pm Monday
Gov. Butch Otter on Tuesday signed House Bill 404, which bars camping on the Capitol Mall and means the state will move to evict any campers who remain on the grounds of the old Ada County Courthouse after the deadline.
"I will be communicating with the leadership and the attorney from 'Occupy Boise' to let them know that I have received and signed the bill, and provide that they have a deadline of 5 PM on Monday, February 27, 2012 to vacate the impacted state properties," Otter wrote to House Speaker Lawerence Denney in advising him he had signed the bill.
The Department of Administration said in a news release that it expects Occupy members to observe the deadline and "will leave the Capitol Annex property in the condition in which they found it."
Department personnel hand-delivered copies of a formal removal notice Tuesday afternoon and that it was kept occupiers "regularly informed through every step of the legislative process."

(360 posts)We have seen this claim repeatedly, but never once have I seen a specific list of what exactly constitutes the claims of health or hygiene concerns. The protesters should be demanding a itemized list and be given sufficient time to correct any discrepancies.

I think they have an attorney who is going to file a claim tomorrow to stop the law from being enforced for exactly that very reason.

(17,086 posts)If they tried to charge the occupiers for camping prior to the law taking effect, that would be ex post facto. I assume the law takes effect on Monday, and that it is being interpreted (or expressly states) that camping is defined as being present with the intent to remain on site after business hours (5pm). Or some such.

(25,111 posts)this type of ruling, if not already done, will be an acceptable ruling all across the country, thereby stopping OWS, but, OWS I'm pretty sure have considered other ways to occupy a location by not living there but having a present thereby allowing people to be able to fall back to homes and buildings (paid for or making payment) to have a place to rest, sleep and eat, as well as organize the next events.
OWS will not be stopped.
