VP Biden Says No Doubt Syrian Regime Responsible For ‘Heinous’ Chemical Weapons Attack

Source: Associated Press

HOUSTON — Vice President Joe Biden says there is no doubt that Syrian President Bashar Assad’s (bah-SHAR’ AH’-sahd) government is responsible for the heinous use of chemical weapons.

Biden’s comments Tuesday make him the highest-ranking U.S. official to say the Syrian regime is the culprit in a large-scale chemical weapons attack on Aug. 21.

Biden says the Syrian government is the only actor in the 2-year civil war that possesses and can deliver chemical weapons. He says Assad has blocked U.N. investigators from the site and has been bombing it for days.

The White House says President Barack Obama hasn’t settled on how to respond to the attack. The Pentagon says U.S. military forces are ready to strike Syria if Obama gives the order.

Which country has no blood on its hands...

If the answers is "none", then I imagine we may wish to focus on the relevant and the valid rather than indictments not directly relevant to the here and now.

Although we could scream about the Sykes-Picot Accord too if it helps validate your sensibilities... for all it's worth.

Obama may very well take some military action, and if so I will oppose it. It would be counter productive and destabilize the region in the long run.

But if the Assad regime did use chemical weapons against its own people that's a horrific crime against humanity and Assad needs to be brought up on charges by the ICC if it can be proved that he is behind it.

They must be fabricating it still.

They have had how long to show proof? But they only yap, yap, yap.

It must be double secret probation stuff they have because we must be too dumb to see it.

He's just trusting the crap the Pentagon is feeding him.

That's always a mistake. Too bad LBJ isn't alive to tell him all about that.

This is a very weak justification for use of US military force given the findings of a UN investigation that found the opposition used Sarin earlier this year that contradicts the Vice President's statement.

U.N. has testimony that Syrian rebels used sarin gas: investigator

(Reuters) - U.N. human rights investigators have gathered testimony from casualties of Syria's civil war and medical staff indicating that rebel forces have used the nerve agent sarin, one of the lead investigators said on Sunday.
