UK makes the case for Syria action

Britain could launch strikes against the Syrian regime without the backing of the United Nations, according to its own legal advice.
The advice states the legal basis for any such action would be "humanitarian intervention", even if permanent UN members Russia and China block it.
UK intelligence chiefs have told the PM it is "highly likely" the Syrian government was responsible for a chemical attack last week.

Mr Cameron has said he believes there is "compelling" evidence from the intelligence services and from publicly available material, including YouTube videos of the atrocity, that the regime carried out the attack.

Special debate, very contentious, going on in Westminster as we speak. Cameron is considered to have lost political face due to lack of support for his pro-intervention stance within the ranks of his own Conservative Party.
With any luck, the debating will go on so long that negative public opinion, opposed to Western military intervention, is heard and heeded.

If anything, that's the strongest evidence against a retaliatory strike against Syria, except maybe that one officer. And, I'll bet the Syrians, themselves, have already saved us the trouble.
