effort on his part to drive down the middle without addressing the pot holes everywhere. He had a chance to acknowledge the crux of this quagmire and put it on them but he won't. He still reaches out to these fuckers who will dance when he's dead. It makes me want to climb the walls. He is allowing them to define him and his admin and the rest of us pay for it.

that PBS interview had all kinds of stuff about Syria, and the question they Daily News put in their headline seemed to be minor, and the link to what Bill Clinton said doesn't even make sense to me. I suspect it doesn't make sense period. It looks like this reporter is trying to create some kind of controversy that doesn't exist.

I read it twice and I don't get it. Obama purposely plays down the race divide. What he feels inside may be something altogether different. Either way, this is kind of a meh report.

Thanks Bill, but you are not the current President of the United States...President Obama can stand on his own two feet

Whether there is some truth to this or not, the most powerful man on the planet doesn't need to wave this public flag, just so all those biting at his ankles can chide him as if he were looking for excuses. Since when has this President looked for a crutch. His feet are steady. His back is strong. The policies this President has espoused would not be supported by Republicans even if Bill, or Al, or Hillary, or Howard were the sitting President. None of these other Dems could use race as a means to deflect criticism, and they are in no position to do so now--our President, the current two-term President, doesn't need this either.

Joe Madison (talk show host) has very good relations with some folks in the WH...and according to him, they are quite aware of what fuels some of the opposition to the POTUS.

and he told me how much the staff wanted the POTUS to take on the issue of poverty. When I asked why Obama didn't do that, he answered, "Because he's black." I so badly wanted to say, "He shouldn't let that stop him from doing what's right," but it wasn't the time or place for an argument. He thought that was an understandable reasoning. It's upsetting to me to think that genuine suffering goes unaddressed because Pres. Obama is concerned about how the Righties will react, but that is what this man told me, and there are too many other examples to deny it. That is so messed up!

I know many DUers think Obama just loves bankers and hates poor people but I've always felt that it's more complicated than that.

I think his chief weakness is his need to not offend/seem reasonable and it leads him to compromise what I believe are really his core beliefs.

I'm all for being pragmatic but Obama frustrates me....and this is coming from a supporter of his.

Americans are quite upset that a Negro lives in the White House and that is fact.

But also in the tiny little minds of "some" and with the propaganda of the RW elite, its solely about POWER. RWers want total control over everything in America including, but not limited to, the U.S.A.

These RWers hate the Democratic Party and it doesn't matter who is in the WH and Congress, they want every congresscritter and President to belong to their party only. When the GOP party have total control then they will dismantles the democratically elected and change the laws and rules inorder for "them" to remain in power forever, which is called a dictatorship.

Therefore, Hilary C. or Biden or Warren or any other member of the Democratic Party remain in the WH and 1/2 Congress and the RW will continue their frontal, back door, sideway, up and down attacks. Heck even if GOPers took all three branches they will make sure no other party even breaths.

Then we will be like the 3rd world countries fighting for "freedom", "justice". . . hoping for help from another country or the UN.

Anywho, so back to the total hatred of Pres O, yep, hatred for any Dem is part of the GOPers motto.

I have not doubt that if we had elected Hillary or any other democrat absolutely nothing would be different. Had we elected Hillary, we'd be seeing sexism that would equal the racism we're now seeing. I also remember how they went after Bill Clinton, with the same vehemence. It's different now that we have social media so we see things more clearly.

If Obama were a conservative repub they would be falling all over themselves. Sure they'd still be racists, but they'd get over it if it meant more power for them.

Privately, he knows repuke opposition to his policies has EVERYTHING to do with his race. He just can't admit it, at least not now.

IMO, PBO is the Jackie Robinson of Presidential politics. There's an unwritten rule that applies to the President that he's not allowed to fight back against rethug opposition by mentioning racism as a motive, even though GOP racism is glaringly obvious.

What else could he say? I suppose he could say that "there are some folks on the fringe that still might harbor those kind of views, but that doesn't describe the vast majority of the American people across the political spectrum." But even with something like that, he'd get into trouble.

They have been so influenced for so many years by Fox News and right wing radio, that they are no longer operating logically. I'm sure that the President now understands that the GOP is not going to work with him, and that it is not going to change until they get wasted in an election. As long as the demographics continue in the direction that they are going, it is going to happen eventually. This why the President tries to give the appearance of reaching out to the Republicans. The independents want to see that, and they are the ones who are going to decide elections.
