FOX's O'Reilly: I Made Wrong Claim About March

FOX'S O'REILLY: I MADE WRONG CLAIM ABOUT MARCH

Aug. 30 3:18 PM EDT

NEW YORK (AP) — Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly has apologized for incorrectly stating that no Republicans were invited to participate in a ceremony this week marking the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for civil rights and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.

In fact, Republican House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor were invited but did not attend. Former President George W. Bush sent a statement in commemoration. O'Reilly had made the incorrect claim on Wednesday, the day of the ceremony.

"The mistake — entirely on me," O'Reilly said on his show Thursday. "I simply assumed that since all the speakers were liberal Democrats, Republicans had been excluded. So here's the tip of the day: Always check out the facts before you make a definitive statement and when you make a mistake, admit it."

O'Reilly said the Republicans made a mistake, too. He said they should have been there.

Even to him, and to continue the lie would have made him look like an even bigger idiot than he usually is.

So he said "Oops."

Now just *TRY* to ever get Rush the Fathead to even bother saying "Oops."
You'd have an easier time walking up to Putin and kicking him in the nuts.

attempt a claim of integrity. He is part of the problem with the right going further and further right. Rush, Hannity, Bill O' see their ratings go up when they take hard positions and misstate the facts to suit their right wing audience. It became a circular, closed system where the pundits have to outdo each other for the ratings, pushing their listeners further right in the G.O.P. bubble!
I am sure that while he talks about how great of him it was to admit he was wrong, he screamed at his staff and blamed some Producer when he learned just how badly he blew it. It just goes to show just how off of the mark he was considering all of the other lies and mis-statements he has made since the last time he apologized, or was there ever a time?

You really ought to find another source of news than Fox. You'd be a lot better informed.

Its a gimmick often used by both him and Beck, they both are good speakers usually at presenting something and just when you almost agree with them.............they run off and jump into Lake Nuttyville to take a dip.

O'Reilly in particular does this, and tries to do this ideological conflation to hope to appear above the fray. Such as when he says he opposes the death penalty, but then says nothing to criticize it in practice. It's what could be called a fig leaf. These few lucid talking points are just fig leafs.

The republicans were invited to join Americans in a celebration of equality, and they all denied the opportunity?

What they hell is wrong with them? Why do they hate America?

This was a public event. Anyone could attend. The Republicans could take a bit of personal responsibility and not blame Obama for not inviting them. They could have just showed up.
