ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) An attorney for the medical examiner in the George Zimmerman case whose testimony was challenged by defense attorneys says his client plans to sue for wrongful termination after being fired.
Shiping Bao was let go as an associate medical examiner in Florida's Volusia County last week, officials disclosed Tuesday. County spokesman Dave Byron declined to give a reason.
Bao performed Trayvon Martin's autopsy in February 2012 and offered conflicting testimony at Zimmerman's murder trial last July about how long the 17-year-old Martin could have lived after being shot in a struggle with the former neighborhood watch volunteer. Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges.
Bao's attorney, Willie E. Gary, said he plans to file suit shortly for wrongful termination, discrimination and job harassment against the medical examiner's office and others.

(7,403 posts)I felt she did a horrible job, start to finish. Don West was successful in brow-beating her time after time after time. She was shaking in her boots that O'Mara would appeal any ruling that was not favorable to the defense, putting her in O'Mara's hip pocket. She was every bit as awful as the prosecutors.

If he has to appear in court for subsequent trials, I'd be very apprehensive of him taking the stand.

(53,778 posts). . . yet there were horrendous performances by others like the judge, the prosecutor, et al.
The good 'ol boy, and girl, network seems to be still intact in Flori-duh.
Bao's not taking it lying down though. He's suing and he's got a great lawyer, Willie Gary, the Johnny Cochran of that region. Bao will be okay.
